I've made two very expensive coasters now trying to get a Driv3r (Driver 3) backup to work on my v9 fliptopped PS2 and Swap Magic DVD 2.0 disc. I used the PS2/XBOX backup tutorial on this site and followed the DVD Decrypter instructions verbatim, but when I tried to boot it on my PS2, it didn't want to. I decrypted the game to xxxx.iso and then wrote xxxx.iso on a Memorex DVD+R (could it be the brand or format? I read that Memorex worked, but I dunno. And my DVD burner is DVD+RW, so DVD-R burning isn't an option. I know my PS2 is capable of reading DVD+R/RW though, seeing as how I have my Band of Brothers DVDs backed up and working fine on my PS2. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Crazy, that defies the laws of DVD burning 0_o 4x working better than 2x. I burnt it at 2x, perhaps I should try 4x? I just don't want to make another coaster. I've already made about 7 CD-R coasters trying to get SNES Station to work, and I've made the 2 DVD+R coasters trying to get Driv3r to work. Also, what software did you use to burn it?
dvd decrypter, simple mode iso read, them iso write onto blank, tis what i always use and have probably burned 100+ backups with only a couple of bad uns...
they say(especially with ritek) that 4x is the way to go, i used to burn at 2x but find that things are running fine at 4x...
ive heard emulators, snes, mame etc.. do not work with swap discs and requires a chipped ps2...
I'll give it a try at 4x. If that doesn't work, I think its my media. Its Memorex 8x DVD+R which is supposed to be ok at lower speeds as long as the burner is 8x or has a firmware upgrade (this is all still new to me). And as for the emulators, I've read posts which people claim they have been able to successfully play them with SM with/without CDLoader. I think I'm just burning those wrong. Cause like I said, it's all still new to me.
its funny the different things different people hear as i was told memorex media was pap.
ive tried allsorts +'s -'s, this brand that brand but have stuck with grade a ritek GO4 dye for months now with little to none problem, and there only £7.48 for cake box of 25..check it out
Well... I burnt it at 4x and Swap Magic "booted" it after showing the blue border which means that the backup works properly, but then it just sat at a black screen and would go no farther. I tried it twice and the same thing, then on the 3rd-5th try Swap Magic wouldn't start it at all... I think I'm gonna invest in those Riteks. Everyone says they're the best. I just gotta find a local retailer that sells them.I just hate it that I wasted money on these coasters...
its horrible when you get a bad burn isnt it, i tried mirror discs once and it was like the lottery when you was burning one, cross your fingers and prey sort of thing...
you dont have to have ritek brand, just make sure that the dye used is GO4, or GO5, ive had no trouble with either, i steer well clear of datawrite, swisstec and mirror. the A grade GO4 ones are fave...
if you are in the uk get them from blankdiscshop.co.uk
No, my burner is a "+" which kinda sucks, but it came with my computer. And no one I knows has a DVD-R burner, or even a DVD burner for that matter, lol (I live in Alabama...). I think I'm gonna get some 4x Fujifilms and hopefully no more coasters. I'd get some GO4's, but they don't sell them in retail I think, just online.
