I'm trying to back up one of my DVD's - League of Gentlemen Xmas Special, using the latest version of DVD Decrypter.

I get as far as VTS_02_2.VOB, then I get an error message saying that there is an unrecovered read error.
I realise that this can be due to a dirty or damaged disc, but even if I skip that particular sector, it will not read any of the following sectors, and it seems that the whole of the .VOB file is corrupt.

The disc plays ok, so I was wondering if this is a method of copy protection? Is there another way round it? DVD Shrink has problems ripping it too.

Cheers.

Perhaps try SmartRipper. You never know it may work.

I just downloaded it and tried it. It seemed to read all the files ok, but when it came to ripping them, it got as far as DVD Decrypter did.
This also happens on Lord of the Rings 3, despite me making many successful backups before.

Any more ideas chaps?
Thanks for the reply.

Since you appear to be having problems with most of the competent decrypter/rippers, I suspect either the disk or the system.

DVDInfoPro is a good (free) program for checking disks. Give it a try and check the disk. Some adware with the prog but nothing harmful.

Another question is how much capacity your system has.
What computer do you have?
What is your CPU and size?
How large is your Hard Drive and how much free space available?
How much RAM?
What is the Operating System, hopefully XP.
