Any "Audacity" user able to figure out how to "clean up" recordings before making them into mp3's. It says it only works when in "Audio." How do you get to audio? When clicking on "effects" it is unable to be used.

hi there

basically, if im not mistaken, you need to record the vinyl to WAV format on your hard disc - then use the clean up in audacity then convert to mp3 to burn

wav is audio format - it is uncompressed unlike mp3

Thanks a lot. It works. Now what about eliminating crackles on old records. When I did the noise removal, it took everything out but the vocal. I did it at the lowest level.
