I was wondering if anybody could help....?

I have a Radeon Excalibur 9200AGP Vivo Edition 128MB Graphics Card. I have been having pc problems since i got it the first minor problem is when i set my display setting colour to 32MB the desktop runs slow and everything seems to refresh twice. Secondly during playing a lot of games my pc will just crash and reboot completly. I have the up-to-date drivers from the ATI webpage but the problem persists.

My Comp Specs are -

Pent 4 2.4 speed
80gig hard drive
512 RAM with regular soundcard that came with my pc.

Also the AGP setting on the ati box says it is 8x but my comp will only allow AGP at 4x. I will be grateful for any help!

Dang, (a) what't the refresh on the monitor set to? (b) I take it the video acceleration is set to max? (c) Is there a possibility the card is screwd? (Test on another computer) (d) as for the reboots: unstable memory? overheating core?

1024 x 768 is the Screen Resolution not refresh rate...

Refresh rate is measured in Hz (hertz)

Right Click Desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor

Screen refresh rate....

Well 60Hz would be the reason why you say its "refreshing twice" .. try increasing it. The higher the better.

Also, under the same setting that cozza1987 gave to you, make sure that the name of your monitor is the one listed and not a generic monitor.

If yours is not listed, then you have to get the .inf file for it off of the manufaturer's website.

Thanks for that! Changing the refresh rate has solved the desktop problem but the game problem still persists

Can u be more specific when you say "crash"? There are about a dozen completely different ways things can crash. :)

Is it possible the system is overheating? Or even just something like just the memory subsystem?

Here is an update, sorry i havent posted anything on here for a few days. Ive tried all different screen resolutions and refresh rates and the problem is still occuring it happens all the time on Euro 2004 game as for the system overheating i am pretty basic on computers could you explain this more and give me more options to try i would be most grateful. I know a while back when my system rebooted it would come up when windows restarted that my system had just recovered from a serious error and when i posted the report it stated that the problem was due to the graphics card and the ATI website offers no help at all to me really.

Does it crash just on euro 2004, try using another game. Also have you got all the latest catalyst drivers if not try getting them from the website.

It seem like it only crashes on euro 2004, games like call of duty gta vice city and others seem to work fine will i just have to face the problem of not being able to play this game on the pc?

Could just be that this game makes the pc generate alot of heat. What is your cpu temperature on each of the games, this may solve the problem. Or it could be something to do with the game but i wouldnt have thought it would have restarted the pc.

You can get a program, i have motherboard manager 5. You can get it from
mbm.livewiredev.com/download.html.
This will tell you your cpu temp and motherboard temp. During each game record the temperature of the cpu and motherboard and tell us what you got.

Use Lavalys EVEREST Home [Free][Formerly AIDA32] [Go to Computer, Sensor, Teperatures: check the CPU temp, along with motherboard, HDD, PSU]

I used to have an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI 256MB. It was old and ran on PCI, so I recommend to BUY A NEW CARD to play games the way thery're meant to be played, even if yours is AGP. [23x faster now p/sec.: I own BFG Tech nVIDIA GeForceFX 5900XT OC] BFG Tech is a very good, respectable, professional, awesometastic company. No kidding, really.

Also, check out this WIERDazz, homosapien, loony-bin DOOM 3 site. You have to see to believe. It hurts me to see people like this still alive.

hahahahahahahaha. OK. What are they, like $50 right now at CompUSA/Best Buy?! That's a pretty good sign about how "good" the card is most of the time. I guess you were saying the 9200 is good, I couldn't really make those first few sentences...
