do i have to buy the one thats made for the xbox or can it just be any cat5e cable.

If you want a straight connection from PC to Xbox, then you must use a CROSSOVER Cable, it's the same exact cable that's used to connect 2 xboxes when playing games.

yeah dude, a cat5e cable IS a crossover cable.
I reccomend going to ebuyer.com for the cheapest ones ($2 or something like that)
