Well I have as many DVD drink coasters as a man could need so now I think its time I asked for some help.
I?m trying to backup my DVD PS2 games and only had two work so far.
I have a pioneer 2x DVD burner Im using DVD Decrypter to rip and burn the DVD?s so far I have had luck this games under 4 gig (two games) but any over 4gig like Driver 3 Spiderman 2 or The Getaway I have no luck. My mod chip is 30/3900x .
I have used alcohol 120% and still no luck. I always burn a 1x speed and have NTFS hdd with lots of space. I was told to try inervideo dvd copy to burn the decrypter rips but again no luck.
So if you can help me with this problem OR tell me a new use for DVD?s instead of drink coasters I would be more than happy

a little more info please, do your backups fail during the image creating process? or during the burning process? do your games boot at all? what error are you getting? what type/brand of discs are you using? what version ps2 do you have?

Ok when I boot the SP2 it gives me the music then sits on the 1st option screen. If it works I then get PLAYSTATION and the game starts. I have one game that takes upto 20mins to boot but all the rest just stay at the 1st option.
So far this only happens on games that have been over 4gig.
Thank you for your help and putting up with my lack of input

best guess from what you have said is your ps2 is struggling to read your discs you could try cleaning the laser to see if that helps, maybe a different brand of media may help, but you said you have a v1 ps2 and it could be that it's just the laser thats just about worn out and you will never have great success booting backups

I would also try a different brand of media. The cheaper media seems to have more errors when burning at the outer edge. Since the disks are written from the inside to the outer edge your smaller backups work, but when you get to 4 gigs you are burning along the outer edge. A friend wanted me to burn some stuff for him and he gave me some cheap generic DVD-Rs and had the same trouble, even with movies. The movie would play until near the end then mess up and start freezing and skipping.

You can use them as Frisbees instead of coasters. Or machine them into weapons... (make sure you wear resperatory protection -- you don't want those bits of plastic getting in your lungs!)
