my message pertains to this topic and has a little more info so I'll add it here...
I have the flip top/swap magic combo and recently backed up my Spiderman 2 but there's some cases where I've been havin really slow loading times. Is it because the game is so detailed or maybe I made a bad copy? I use Nero and burn straight to disk.
Also in the last few mins I've noticed some posts about "cheaper disks". What is generally a good brand to use? Verbatim? My PS2 is V7 if that makes a difference.
i use verbatim, i heard they were good. Fujifilm is also good, i heard also. TDK and Memorix seem to be good, but people say that tdk works better, or memorix works better. Im not too sure, but try not to use cheap brand's i.e. stuff in bulks thats cheap and you have never heard of ever. hope this helps a little. also, i have spiderman 2, and its slow only in the loading after i switch with the smd dvd 2.0 to the dvd+r that its backed up on. i have a v2, so it might be because its a dvd+r, but dvd+r's seem to work fine most of the time.
Ritek go4 are good media to use. Using crappy media wears down the laser quicker so you are best using better media in the long run. Spiderman shouldnt be slow in game so maybe you have made a bad copy?
So far everything I've backed up for my PS2 has been on either Memorex or Maxell. But until now, I didn't know to burn to the HD then to the disk and also to burn them at slow speeds... am I going to damage my PS2's laser? and how much is a new one? probably better off buying a new PS2?
i have an old ps2, version 2, year 2001 i believe. But it works great, and i use verbatim, some are memorex, some are maxwell. They tend to work fine for me, but it all depends on your ps2 i guess. Some versions have different lasers, they are not all the same, therefore some are more capable then others for reading different media types i believe.
I believe that matty was talking about the computer's laser? Im not too sure. how do you back up your games without ripping it to the hd? just on the fly (nero term)?
I was talking about the ps2 laser. If you are using crap media then the laser has to focus more and this wears it down faster. Branded media like ritek g04 is better as it is easier on the laser. If you dont want a copy on your hdd then just do a exact copy of the disc, this wont copy it onto the hdd(using nero)
actually, i believe it does copy to the hd, but it doesnt save, it gets deleted after. So burns sometimes works or doesnt depending on the amount of space the dvd is, and where the temp folder is. I believe this is true, can anyone confirm this?
