i'm a newbie at burning ps2 dvd games.
i've got an LG grx-4120b dvd burner, ps2 V7 modded with a magic 3.1 chip.
the problem is after i successfully burn the ps2 game image onto DVD using alcohol 120%, i try to load it on the ps2. i get the normal startup with the white "playstation 2" logo screen, but then it changes to a black screen. i assume it would slowly load after the startup screen, but nothing happens. it remains black. sometimes after the startup screen, i get the red "insert a compatible PS2 game" screen.
is anybody experiencing the same problem?
Thanks in advance!

i've tried burning spiderman 2, and also street fighter anniversary collection. i've run into the same problem on both games.

Have you by chance put a hdd into your ps2?
PS2 v4 w/ Messiah 2 v1.3
PSP with D_A FW
XBOX 360 Premium (Sammy m28 w/ iXtreme 1.0a)
Novint Falcon Haptics Controller
Sony DRU-510A +/- RW (Nearing the end of its days)
Pioneer D112 +/- RW, +R DL

no, i don't have a hdd installed.
(although the HDloader sounds tempting).

because the official hdd will detect your chip and disable it while in your ps2.

ok, i've tried DVD Decrypter burning spiderman2 at 1x speed and it finally worked!
however, when i tried the same thing with street fighter anniversary collection, i got "incompatible disc error" and i ended up with a coaster.
anyone know how to fix this?
are there any settings that i should play around with in DVD Decrypter? (ie. burn-proof, test mode...)

H4ku: You had the EXACT same problem? And I meant the EXACT, every number and sector on that error is the same? My guess is that a sector is unreadable on your disc. try doing it at 1x too.

Ender88, just to clarify the i/o error appears during the writing process in dvd-decrypter. assuming that when you said "that a sector is unreadable on your disc", unless you meant the harddrive, there shouldn't be a problem because the dvd writer is reading from the image file of the game.
also, i only burn at 1x (although dvd-decrypter likes to say that "actual write speed" is around 2x). somebody mentioned that it could be something to do with crappy dvd-r media. i sorta agree, though i have yet to go out to purchase some ritek dvds.
lastly H4ku, try Nero. surprisingly, it burned street fighter AE for me where dvd-decrypter failed. again, could be faulty media problem, but i hope this helped a bit!
