I tried to make a image file of the disc using Alcohol 120%, but it had a disc read error after about 3 seconds and stopped the dumping of the image. Can anyone help?

PS - I was reading at 4x (burner doesn't allow anything below 4x).

Burner - Sony DRX-510UL.

you need to set it to ignore read errors (there will be a lot of them).

how many read errors can one tolerate to still make a functional backup?

i didn't watch it, but when i copied gameshark, it took a half an hour to read (its only like 40megs).

well, i'm pretty new at this, but 40 minutes to copy 40 megs suggests to me that there were quite a few read errors that your software had to ignore. was the copy playable?

and just a general question about read errors: if it takes an hour to wade through a PS2 game disk read due to ignoring two hundred read errors would most people still burn it -- or is it pretty much a lost cause by that point? and do people use products like DVDoctor or whatnot to reduce those read errors (@ least the ones due to scratches).

gameshark works, but if you get read errors during an actual game, it might not work.
