Electronic Sports League gets its own drug testing policy

The Electronic Sports League has implemented a drug testing policy, killing off hard drugs and "performance enhancing" drugs for the e-sports players. ESL has worked with the World Anti-Doping Agency to create the policy, which will include saliva tests. Any and all performance enhancing drugs should be allowed in all competitive sports.

Yes. And speed of any sort IS a significant advantage in video games. Although, I agree marijuana ehnhances nothing but your enjoyment of any game ^^' ...

That depends on the sport and its controlling organization(s). Many sports organizations, for example, ban MANY perfectly legal substances, such as those found in energy drinks and many cold/flu remedies.

From the article, it doesn't seem like energy drinks are likely to be banned, but that also makes sense; most, if not all people can easily avail themselves legally of a Red Bull - or even just a coffee or tea - if they care to do so. Not so, for Adderall and similar high-grade, clinical speed.

I personally don't care in the slightest WHAT funny alkaloids anyone consumes, as long as it doesn't cause problems for others. But substances that boost performance in some way that simply are not available to a large number of competitors (barring medical necessity) simply should not be allowed, legal or not.

Redbull etc. would probably sponsor some of these events. :)
