Hello all. I just bought a Samsung 17" LCD monitor and a chaintech Geforce fx 5200 video card (256mb). I had the monitor at the lowest resolution which was pretty lousy; but everything fit in the screen okay. When I increased the resolution to the highest that the monitor stated it would accept, and then had to adjust the DPI to 150% and it looks alright, but video is still very choppy looking and when I go on the internet everything is still mega-small and hard to see- as well as I have to move the mouse a long way to getfrom one side to the other. I have been trying to solve this for a while- any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I'm not clear on what you're exact problem is but LCD monitors usually look and perform best at their "native" resolution which should be listed in the manual.

I set it to what the manual stated, but everything is VERY small- any other possibilities or something else I should try with the video card? Thanks

Do you have it connected via digital cable or analog cable?

I have not checked to see if your monitor supports digital, but if it does, and you have a digital cable going from your monitor to your vid card, the monitor should boot up in its native resolution, and the refresh rate that you see, under Display options will probably be 60 Hertz. This, of course, means nothing, since refresh rates only apply to analog connections.

Internet explorer has a option under "View" and then "Text size".. Change your acceleration settings for your mouse.. I have a 21 inch monitor and it does the same thing. It's a simple mouse adjustment.. Hope this helps

Crush, make sure the monitor has a digital cable with it, or else you will have to purchase one, separately. When I got mine, it was $36 US.

The monitor came with a digital cable- Thanks. I adjusted the mouse acceleration for text size which really helped- but items such as my hotmail and other pages, still have really small text- as well as pictures (i.e. ebay home page, etc.) Any way to increase the size of these as well? Thanks for all the help thus far!

Crush, some sites you can increase the size of the fonts, etc. by clicking on the Size button in th IE toolbar at the top of the page. If the AA Size button is not showing, right-click in a blank space, within the toolbar, then click on Customize. In the Available Toolbar Buttons, to the left, select the AA Size button, click on Add, and it should move it to the Current Toolbar Buttons box. I should then also show up at the top of IE, in the toolbar.

Yoy may also want to change the Text Options to show text labels (via the dropdown box).

And, you may want to change the Icon Options to large icons.

Then, click on the AA Size icon, up above, and change it to Large or Largest. It does not work on all sites, though.

I hope it works for you.

You are welcome, Crush. And yes, there are some pages that will still have small pictures and text, no matter what.

You may be able to increase the size and acceleration of the mouse cursor, in Mouse Properties.

- Try CTRL+mousewheel to zoom around
- As for choppy; (a) whats the refresh on the LCD (b) are you trying to do gaming? :)
