Hi,

I have a friend that says he has an xbox with a hard drive installed and don't need a mod chip to boot to it... How is this possible?

Xboxs come with a factory 8 or 10GB hard drive installed.

If you are implying that he has an upgraded hard drive in his Xbox, this can be achieved via a softmod.

Thanks for the reply.

I think this is the same exact setup my buddy has but sometimes when he turns on his xbox, it cycles through the BIOS, then reboots, then cycles again and reboot...

This is continuos for at least 5-10 mins, then it loads the phoenix bios and gets to the dashboard.

He says it's due to not having a chip installed.

I'm interested in getting this done, but is there a way around this reboot that happens every so often?

Thanks

It's called the "Clock Loop" and yes there is. The new Font exploit should not suffer from this anomaly.

The new font exploit? Can you explain a little more please?

Is there a tutorial or explanation on where to get and replace this?

my box rox< no weird loadups at all

heres a bit of this page

WHAT YOU NEED
1. A Modded XBOX (For FTP Access)
2. An UnModded XBOX (Which is getting modded)
3. A Memory Card (For the 007 - Agent Under Fire Saved Game)
4. 007 - Agent Under Fire ORIGINAL DVD Game. The Platinum Version did not work.
5. 007savewithraincoat.zip file from #xbins on IRC - EFNet
6. A Soldering Iron (15 Watt) from Radio Shack or any local electronics store.
7. Solder also available at Radio Shack or your local electronics store.
8. De-soldering Braid (in case you make a mistake)
9. A couple pieces of electrical tape to cover the surrounding area.
10. For those of you who like Slayer's EvoX Auto Installer, you can burn the image and load the dashboard that way. This is version 2.1. Here's the link to the thread and how to obtain the image.
