How can I decode VBR MP3 files to CD-Audio WAV please?
Every time I have tried to do this, I end up with a file that is 4 times longer at 12000KHz instead of 44100KHz.

Must be a way to do this, but not with Nero as I do not have this, and do not want it either.

Any ideas gratefully tried out.

use winamp
go to preferences, and under output select nulldiskwriter plugin

then load the mp3 into winamp and attempt to play it, it will make a .wav from it. Be sure and switch the winamp settings back when you're done, or else it will always be an mp3 to wav converter rather than a player.

(this is based on v2.91 which i am using, which is an older version I'd imagine you'd still use winamp in the same manner.
hope that helps.

Hi Wilkes,
There's a NoooB helpin' out an ol' greybeard, eh? :-)
CDex specialises in just that sort of manipulation
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
I use it just about every day...
I'm sure there are other tools, other ways too, like the winamp or ? but I have never needed other than CDex.

So much to learn, so little time.
What do you think made me old & grey?

Thanks for the heads up on that one - never seen it before.

I think that the file header is wrong on this. WMP plays it correctly and identifies it as VBR, but WaveLab sees it as 9 minutes, not 2.52 at 12K instead of 44.1
So someone dropped a clanger somewhere.
2 full albums like this, too good to not put on CD as well
