Radio 1 has a link which launches 'their' radio player and streams a particular program. I've been trying to record this using Streambox but the problem is that there is no obvious URL that I can offer to Streambox to record the program. Anyone come across this or how do you find the URL of the show and not just the link to the player. Help appreciated, thanks.

This is very easy to do, as it is one of the most basic of windows operations.

Decide which stream you want the URL for,

RIGHT-CLICK on the chosen stream,

select Properties,

read off (copy by your chosen method) the URL shown.

Have fun...

You can't do that. Well you can but the link in the properties is the URL for the Radio Launcher window and not the stream itself. When the radio window launches, the stream automatically commences but you cannot see what URL that radio window is using to copy to Steambox to record.

Ok then...

Do it this way:

Start the chosen stream playing, then pause it:

Take the URL you got by the previous method,

e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/comedy.shtml?think

the stream identifier is after the "?" character,
in this instance "think"

Search your Temporary Internet Files folder for a file that matches:

*.rpm

Copy the required file (a 1K size file from
http: // www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/rpms/ ****.rpm)
to wherever (your choice)

Open the copied file with Notepad, you will then see the URL you require....

Have fun....

Thanks but I've found \ new product. Have you tried, Replay Music (replay-music.com)

In a nutshell, records streams and converts them to mp3 in one fell swoop. This is somewhat of an ambiguous role for a stream recorder as it doesn't really know when on song ends and another begins.

Anyway, these mp3 can be converted to AAC for ipod and ipod has the ability to 'join' songs, so in theory you could record a radio show onto ipod.

I haven't tried this yet but it is what I want to do.

The software costs about £20.

Thanks for your help.
