Hey
I think there must be seriously something wrong with my 3dMark03 or with my computer.
Here are the specs:
Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 ghz
1.00 gb of DDR Ram [ 2 sticks ]
Nvidia Ti 4200 with 128 md DDR Memory [ Forceware Driver ] Over Clocked with Riva Tuner to 280 mhz core and 600 mhz memory
17" Viewable Flat Panel Monitor by Dell
200 gigs in 2 HDs
Need anything else?
The score i recieved was: 1744.
That is absoultely ridiculous.
Can someone help me, please?
Thanks

The GF4 TI 4200 is not a DX-9 card, so all of the tests won't run making your score lower. I'll bet your 3D Mark 2001 scores are probably pretty good. It only requires a DX-8.1 card. 3D Mark 03 requires a card that is DX-9 hardware compatible.

Nvidia cards didn't support DX-9 fully untill the GF FX series. Earlier cards have to handle DX 9 effects by software means. 3D Mark 03 needs to have hardware support for DX-9 for some of the tests to work.3D Mark 2001 is the test to use for DX 8.1 cards which the GF4 is. 3D Mark 03 is a pretty tough test. I have an Athlon XP 3000+ and a GF FX 5600 Ultra (sort of a medium performance card) and my last score was 3225. You'll find that test 1 works pretty good, tests 2 & 3 work but possibly slow and test 4 (Mother Nature)won't work at all with a non DX-9 card.

Yes you have DirectX9.0b (btw DX9.0c is out) but your HARDWARE doesnt have acceleration for DX9 it's a DX8.1 card.

You can play doom with a Radeon9000 and GF4MX. You'll be fine (trust me even Low Detail looks good). I play on high with my specs so judge for yourself :)

11045 isn't too bad of a score for what you have. I just ran 3D Mark 2001 SE and got a score of 10729. I think I have gotten scores in the 12000 range in the past, so I might need to roll back my video driver to an earlier one. I'm not really a game player so I guess it doesn't matter too much. I don't overclock anything, because for me there's not much point. Computer parts cost too much for me to fry. I'm pretty much satisfied with what I have at the present. I know that you were asking Praetor, but I thought I'd put my $.02 in also.

I'm not exactly sure of your question, but I think our computers are fairly comparable. I use the Athlon XP mainly due to the price as compared to a Pentium 4. It suits my needs very well. I really don't want to get into the AMD vs Intel arguement. I think they both have their virtues. I've never actually had a Pentium 4, although I built a Pentium 4 computer for a friend once. Like I said, I'm not really a game player, since I seem to have ten thumbs when I try to play. Occaisionally, I'll try one of the MS Flight Simulators. You don't have to be fast for those.

Pffft! It's an open forum :)

Does quite well :) Again, like forkndave said, there is a very attractive performance/price issue :) (not to mention overclockability)

TRY IT! LOL nobody can tell you (what the matrix is)... how much you can OC as it depends from chip to chip, board to board. Personally I wouldnt expect much from it.

ggamer, forkndave had it right

The problem is the lack of DirectX 9 support by your card!It doesn't matter if you have DX9 installed for this, if your card doesn't support or benefit from it then neither will your scores.
Use 3Dmark 2001 and check your scores.

My son's PC has a Ti4200 in it and I've tried to get him to let me upgrade it to another card with DX9 support. I have an ATI 9500 pro that I pulled out of my wife's PC sitting in a box and he still says no.
