Hi, I do love Nero but I have some unknown prob with it and I am looking for a sowftare that my conmputer would handle better.

Are there any alternative to Nero to burn a dvd that is already authored with .vob files and .bud lists and all?

All I want is burn the thing and I keep trying softwares that seem nice bu force me to import mpeg, make my menu, and then do the authering before letting me burn.

What are the other softwares that let me burn my DVD directly from the VOB and BUD files ready to go?

I tried so far Instant CD/DVD and Sonic DVD producer and Alcohol 120%... those 3 are not what I want. Or if yes, I could figure how to burn VOB...

For those curious about the problem, here it is :

Nero will always do a write error around 6% of the process. I had this error before and I reformatted my drive and re-installed everything and it stopped happening. But everytime after some weeks that my computer is re-installed I will get Nero to make write errors around 6% again. (I test with same project everytime). I disable everyting in the taskbar and I run MSCONFIG to disable everything at startup. Keeps happening. I really think I need an alternative to NEro. But after a fresh re-install Nero works fine. Once I installed everything I use regulary with my PC, it stops working. I can't find what makes Nero making errors on my PC.

Thank you

acutally, they are bup files, not bud. Secondly, what brand dvd media are you using?

_What ASPI layer did you install ? ( i.e. Adaptec or Nero ? )

I got similar problems . My solution was :

__Use ForceASPI v1.7 to install Adaptec ASPI 4.6

You are right. Sorry about the confusion with .BUD / .BUP

I tried many things since original post and I think it's a compatibility prob with the drive itself.

I use a SONY DRU-510A CD-R / DVD-R
My Motherboard is a MSI Kt266 pro2A, chipset via
Latest via driver installed. (anyway I tried with and without)

-I updated firmware of the drive.
-All winXP updates are done
-Tried PIO mode and DMA mode

I made an img in Alcohol 120% and I can't burn it with Alcohol either...If you have any suggestions...

Thanks

alcohol 120% cannot de "CSS" the dvd movies or cannot handel programs on dvd with disk protection at this current time. So if your trying to burn a movie or a copy protected software alcohol is not the tool to use at this time

HP Pavilion 533w

ATI radeon 9200 256mb

dvd decrypter and DVD Shrink is all you need. if the movie doesn't need to be shrunk, you can create and burn an image with DVD Decrypter.

Ok I meant that I tried to burn a Nero img with alcohol.

In Nero, I am not able to create a DVD video by just putting all my .VUP and .VOB files and lauinching burning. The list was created using DVD Decrypter and then I shrunk the film with DVD2One.

Fron this list ob .VOBs I created an ISO img in Nero that I tried to burn with Alcohol 120%

So I do think I have a compatibility prob I 'll try to phone at Sony tomorow. I guess this issue is a little off topic on this forum though...?

But thanks to all of you and I look foward to use DVDShrink once I will have resolved my problem.

I had the same DVD burner as yours and used Nero + DVD Shrink for most of my DVD copying .

I strongly suspect your problem was related to the ASPI layer setup.

__First, I think you should use "InfoTool.exe" in the folder <Nero ToolKit> found in your Nero installed directory, to make sure your ASPI layer is O.K.

__If not, use ForceASPI v1.7 to install Adaptec ASPI 4.6 .

This version seems to cause less compatibility problems as the newest version Adaptec ASPI v4.7.1.2
