Best resolution for divx files to play on dvd player

Hi,

My dvd player supports divx so I can watch movie from my flash drive, I want to convert all my dvds to divx and was wondering what was the best resolution and frame rate.

The standalone players that I have set the maximum resolution of the source file as 720x576 (that's the resolution of a PAL DVD).

I use AutoGK to convert DVD to AVI and use the 'Target Quality' default setting instead of a fixed output size.
It defaults to a width of 640 - the height is calculated using the aspect ratio of the source - it's best to let the program figure it out.
The frame rate would be the same as the source video.
