I have swap magic 3.8 and a modded slim ps2. All three sensors are blocked and I have a flip top. I put the SM disk in and enabled the cheats for SH4 then hit NTSC as the video preference. The disk spins a couple times, then stops and leaves me on a black screen. I tried the same thing without enabling cheats, but the same thing happens. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought I had everything figured out, but apparently I didn't. :(

you could install freemcboot and use the SM 3.8 elf instead the discs always seemed to give me problems where the elf didnt. go herefor tutorials on how to install it.

heresa link to the SM3.8coder elf copy it to your memory card using Ulaunch after you install freemcboot. to use it put in a original ps2 game with high ToS then boot swapmagic elf then swap for backup and boot the game and play.

:( There's an ad in the way of the message... Let me see if posting another message helps.
EDIT: Yeah. I can see it now. I'll just have to buy a USB flash drive though. All the ones I had disappeared...

I installed the Noob pack on my USB flash drive and nothing will start up now. SM goes to load, and nothing happens... I got this to work before a long time ago, now I don't know what's going on...

you followed the the tut right it says you need to rename and copy a few things did you do that?
1. extract the freemcboot install and freemcboot.elf to the usb drive and
2. make a folder called SWAPMAGIC on the usb drive and copy the boot.elf from ulaunch to the SWAPMAGIC folder and renaming the ulaunch's boot.elf to SWAPMAGIC.elf
swapmagic tutorial

Yeah. I followed the instructions to the "T". Maybe it's the USB flash drive I'm using? I hear some of them aren't too compatible with the PS2. I've been trying to find a list of compatible flash drives but haven't been too successful.

One I just bought. It's called DataStick Pro by Centon. I've never heard of them before. Oh, and I formatted it to FAT32 too.

Hooray! I tried a different USB flash drive and it works! Just a little note for those wanting to install FMCB, DO NOT USE CENTRON USB FLASH DRIVES!! THEY DO NOT WORK!
Thanks for your help, Kannz!

Damn. Now I have a new problem. I can't get my imported game to register with FMCB. Is there a step-by-step guide or something so I know what to do? It still says to insert a PS2 format disk. I'm very confused...

go back up to post #4 and download the swapmagic elf. and
1. copy it to your usb drive
2. put a orginal ps2 game in your ps2
3. with the Swapmagic elf on the usb drive plug it in (optional: you can copy the SM elf to your memory card by using ulaunch but it can stay on the usb drive)
4. start up Ulaunch and boot the swapmagic elf
5. once its to the boot screen swap your backup for the original and you should be gaming in no time.
you can also use ESR by patching your ps2 game discs with the esr patcher and then theres no need to swap.

np you can also try out playing games over the network (SMB) or usb drive using the Open Ps2 loader elf you can get it here. just copy the elf to your usb drive using ulaunch and boot the elf. using freemcboot configurator you can add in the "shortcuts" to the main ps2 menu and launch all your elfs straight from the menu without having to boot ulaunch first.

I copied the SM elf to my usb but it won't boot up. It takes me to the grey screen for Ulaunch (I think). Here's what I'm trying to do:
I bought Forbidden Siren 2 and that was only released for PAL PS2, and I have an NA PS2. Would I need to put the disk in my computer and burn the ISO to another disk and play it from there? Because if that's the case, then I'm screwed because I've had NO luck with things of that nature.
You're probably explaining this in such simple terms and I'm just not getting it. I feel like a nob.

uh are you booting the SM elf from your usbdrive? if your going to try and play the game through a SMB network with your pc copy the disc to your computer's harddrive as an iso(I suggest using cdclone or the equivalent) and then read through thisthen ask more questions if you cant go from there.

I'm pretty sure I'm booting it from the USB.
I just tried to play Persona 3 and the laser keeps moving to the edge of the CD and there's this weird clicking sound then it brings me to the browser where you can see all the data on your memory cards. I clicked on the CD and it goes to load then does the same thing again.

your putting a original ps2 game disc as a replacement for the swapmagic disc right? your supposed to have your original (not burnt) ps2 game in your ps2 then boot swapmagic elf and swap with the burnt disc.
