Hello, I'm new so sorry if this thread double posts or something.
My question is: How can I play burned games when all I have is a USB stick? I have a few ideas and I want to know if they will work/better alternatives. I have a launch PS2 (big ones) if that helps any.
1. Swap trick (without swapmagic or similar discs)
Putting in a PS1 game and quickly swapping it in with a PS1 BACKUP will make the PS2 play the backup. Does the same work for PS2 games? Can I put in a legit PS2 game,then when the logo is on the screen, swap it for my backup?
2. USB games
Putting games on the USB and using some special software on a burned DVD will work right? The DVD will tell the PS2 that its a game, and I can play the game off the USB.
I'm not familiar with software so any detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated. Instead of just telling me what to download. Thanks in advance.
I think that works for PS2 games as well, but I could be wrong.
I reccomend that you just get free Mcboot because it's much easier and safer to do than disc swapping.
Also, I don't think you should play PS2 games off of USB drives because the PS2 USB ports are older, and can only handle a max data transfer of 14MB/S which I think is far too slow for decent performance (slow loading and bad framerates etc...).

It involves replacing one of a game's .ELF files with a boot.elf (or something like that) so that the game becomes a swap-magic basically. For my test I am going to use NBA Live '06, which has a "1995 NBA version" from the old days on the disk. The .ELF file to boot the '95 game will be replaced with the boot.elf (or something like that) by putting the CD in your computer and just drag and drop.
Then when you play the game, go tot he menu, click on "NBA 1995" and instead of starting the game, the screen will go black, this is when you swap it with your burned game.

This will not work cause the TOC changes if the .elf doesn`t have the same size as the original
