this is my first post as I broke down trying to find answers surfing but in the end nothing
1.Im Using codebreaker V8.2
2.a fat ps2 one of the first models in the US (not entirely sure what model number) with a 40G HDD installed
and 3. the USB stick that came with the code breaker formatted to FAT32 (and have tried 1 other thumb drive but it seemed pretty cheap)with UlaunchELF and the FMCB on the drive.
alright heres the problem
i start up the codebreaker disk
after its all loaded up ill insert my usb thumb drive BAM! instantly freezes take it out starts working the second i take it out.
if i have the drive in when i turn on my ps2 it pulls up the playstastion2 lettering and then black screen freeze take out the drive code breaker starts loading. it almost acts if i have a slim ps2 but no im not a complete idiot i know its not
if anyone one can help me with this i'd be more than grateful cause ive tried everything that i can think of..kinda out of options so i need some input. thankss

There is no procedure unless you use a modchip, soft mod, Swap Magic or USBExtreme Retail disk.
sorry it has taken some time to reply smokyrain. I thought no one was going to respond because I said it was my 1st thread on afterdawn, so I thank you for actually trying to help out.
But anyways yes that is the page I was looking over when I was trying to softmod my PS2 the weird thing is is that I've tried starting it up every way I know possible and my ps2 runs fine with the flash drive in until you tell it to start reading CB even if I have loaded up the CB and its fine then I plug the flash in, it wigs out and freezes up. so I guess that it very well could be the flash but I just dont see why the one that came with CB wont work.
I was also kinda curious since I already have HDD installed (not USB HDD) if there was a way to just put the files on that and boot it directly from the installed HDD. probably not but if I cant use the flash drives that I do have then I think its worth a shot if i can at least try.
