Problems with Slide Card for PS2

Hey, can anyone help me?
I am able to use the slide-card to open the disk tray, and move the cog, but then the disk won't load and starts making funny noises like its trying to read the disk.

Depending on the sound thats being made...

Loud clicking: Dirty slide arms and grooves on the spiral axle connected to motor that moves the laser assembly.

Rapid laser assembly movement (disc reading sound): Dirty/scratched/scuffed disc. Or bad parallel alignment between laser assembly and disc (can be fixed with the white plastic cog toward the back of PS2 behind laser assembly). Or dirty/fogged laser (can be cleaned with q-tip or buffed gently with dremel and buffing compound if really bad)
