PS2 slim Swap Magic help

My gf just bought a ps2 slim that came with a flip top(allready installed)and 2 discs (magic 3 plus dvd rom driver usa 3.6)&(swapmagic 3 plus coder usa 3.8).

now he told my gf that you put the disc in the ps2 then switch it with a copied game. so i went on gametorrents and dl nhl2k10 and burned the iso to a dvd using imgburn. then i put the dvd rom disc in the ps2 and this load program screen came up, i took that disc out and put nhl2k10 in but it said "not a ps2 disc". then i turn off the ps2 and tried the dvd rom disc again but now it won't load the screen that says "load program".

now did i do something wrong or did my sons ps2 just break?
i need help please
i allso heard that there are a couple of other ways to play copied games and i was wondering which works best and is easiest for a 4yr old to use.

Did you just open the fliptop, by using the circle part as pictured below

Don't press the Eject button

When it says Load Program, choose below that too select your region of PS2
Then just press X to load game.

For a 4 year old, it would be easier to install fmcb 1.8
Patch your ISO games with ESR disc patcher 2.4a
Burn with imgburn
Then you can configure fmcb 1.8 to just start with the disc and ESR r9b to load the game
Then there is no disc swappping.
Just like a mod chip, it will boot the backup
