While attempting to swap with the slide key I pushed the eject button by mistake (wasn't thinking about it) and managed to get the tray stuck. I tried taking the tray out and was able to force ably get it out, but now I can't get it back in. If i try to put the tray back in i hear a loud crackling noise so I don't think that will work. I know others asked this question here but i need to know how to open the ps2 fat while the disk tray is open for older answers info to help.

Flip the console over and there should be 8 screws, some models only have 6. once your done with that, unscrew the 4 screws to the cd drive top and you should be able to fix it from there. Inside the ps2 whenever you hit the eject button the whole drive assembely will drop down and the tray will slideout. When using a slidecard your doing the same thing but manually doing it. it should be an easy fix, wish you luck :)

Even when I take the 8 screws out I can't get the outer frame off because the tray is in the way. So do I have to break the frame in order to get to the cd drive top? The only other screw I can get to is on the underside of the cd tray in a corner by a metal cylinder shaped piece.
