Well, many people have this problem, I know, but I still can't find the answer.

Basically, I'll start:
I bought a Swap Magic 3.6 for the slim PS2 (the little one) and installed the three white pieces. The DVD worked for awhile and after that the PS2 couldn't read it anymore, because it goes to the menu with the memory card and CD symbol. I tried on another PS2 and it didn't work either. After that I bought another one, and it worked for awhile too, however the same thing happens. I found an answer in this forum which says that if we use wax on the DVD, it works, and that's true, for 1/2 weeks it worked sometimes, they say to use car wax but I used mobiles wax. Anyway, it doesn't run Swap Magic 3.6 DVD anymore and I already cleaned very well the DVD and even the PS2. Anyway, I've got cousins with Swap Magics and are very worst (DVD that had accidents and all) and they still work PERFECTLY. Is the PS2 damaging my Swap Magics or should I a special cleaning? Anyway, it reads very well, the Swap Magic CD and original games and I can't get any new Swap Magic... Thanks for you answer...

Well I never heard of that one too use wax on the disc, but anyhow.

If you can play Original DVD game fine and your CD works, then if I were you, I would install fmcb 1.8 with your SM CD

Then you can use the SM 3.8 elf to boot your games already backed up.
For newer backups just use the esr.elf and patch the ISO with the esr disc patcher.

You don't need to edit cnf files.

Just follow the Swap Magic tutorial - http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/swapmagic.php

You bet, not too hard at all. It is a good idea to read through the User guide also, just too understand the process and what is needed

Another problem, in the Noobie Tutorial, I download the package and I copy what they say, however, my FREE_MCBOOT.ELF isn't a PS2 Executable File, and in the image, it's a Executable File, and I downloaded the right package...

Are you not able to launch it with uLe like in picture below

If it does not say PS2 Executable file on your PC, don't worry about that as you probably have some other file associated with it then. That would be why it won't say that like in the picture posted in the tutorial.

So there is another problem... I'm using a USB with FAT32 reading and all, and my PS2 doesn't read it... Sorry if I'm bothering you too much, but I'm not an expert in those things... :P

Your not bothering me. What brand of USB is it and size.

Did you place the SWAPMAGIC folder on it all in caps as I have and rename the BOOT.ELF to SWAPMAGIC.ELF again in all caps.

For the names, yes, I did all things, rights, about my USB, it's a USB PEN Drive with 4 GB with FAT32 folder system. Or should I use another kind of USB?

The PS2 can be fussy about which pen drives it likes or not.
Do you have another one you can try?

Don't work either.

I'll give more details:
It's a Slim PS2.
The USB are connected anyway, because the one that has only FAT System always shine, even if you don't work with it.
For the content, when you open the USB I have got the 2 folders... The INSTALL and SWAPMAGIC and after that the file FREE_MCBOOT.ELF When you open the SWAPMAGIC folder, i've got SWAPMAGIC.ELF. In the other folder there is the respective 4 Elf files and the other 4 folders with the read me. Should I erase the read me files?

Ok you have the folders and files placed properly on the USB drive.

YOu need to format it as FAT32 though

Then start up your Swap Magic CD with the USB device plugged into PS2, and it will start the SWAPMAGIC, then you should see the uLe screen.

Ok well I guess you are unlucky none of your usb pen drives work.

I know Kingston, lexar, PNY, or Sandisk should work.

Check Wal-mart or similar and see what they have.
