Hi guys, I seem to be having a problem running backed up games on my PS2.
So I burned the game (Persona 4) using ImgBurn at 2.4x speed, and it played very well. I was able to play the game perfectly for the first two days. Then, after a while,the game began to freeze at times. I restarted the game, but Swap Magic would give me the message "Not A Valid PS2 Disc". Occasionally, it would get past that, but the screen would stay blank. I tried burning another copy at 4x speed, but that one didn't boot up at all. I'm using Gigaware DVD-R's, if that matters. And I have a PS2 slim. Any help on this issue is appreciated. I've been frustrated for hours now.
So if any of the previous games made still work then swap magic is fine which only leaves burned disc,however one can't rule out laser so try an original if any previous games don't work,tho i suspect the dvd's are your issue
Original games work fine, so I don't think it's the laser that's the problem. I tried another burned game, but it didn't work either. I don't understand why the game worked so well before, but now it won't even start.

I had a similar problem with that game,try to select "Special" and then Pal or Ntsc,depending on what code the game and you tv has.
I was using a Ntsc version of persona4 on my pal console,that worked well on my old fat ps2,then bought a slim ps2 and persona 4 would not load(the same happened with ultimate spider man and others)did this and it worked.
though some games still don't work.
original games work fine.. but burns wont?.. thats the laser fading out.. first symptom is always stops reading burns but still reads originals.. without touching anything else open it up.. get into the drive.. there is a big cog at the back of the drive under the tray.. move it one or two clicks in either direction and see if it makes any improvement.. if not then return it to it's factory set position.. look for a "adjust ps2 lazer" guide.. there are stacks out there.
