You Don't Say What you Used to Try to Rip The Movie, That Would Have Been Very Helpful in Answering this Problem.

Try Using DVD Fab 6 To Rip To Hard Drive and Imgburn To Burn To Good Quality Blank Media (Verbatims or TYs).

You Could Also Use ANYDVD Along With Your Ripping Program, Burning With Imgburn.

Also Your Disc Could Be Scratched or Dirty and in Need of Cleaning
or It Could Be What People Call a BAD PRESS.

I am trying to burn 2012-it burns onto my computer, but then tells me it is too large to burn onto a disc. How do I change the size that I need it to compress to?

Pass the file on your computer through DVD shrink. It will create another file (put it in a different place) and then burn the file created onto a disk.

@Berryone

Thanks for the advice. DVDShrink wouldn't copy/compress it after ANYdvd unlocked/decrypted it. So I used ANYdvd to rip the disc to hdd then used DVDShrink to compress it. Never thought of doing it this way. Does it work... um... more often then not? (I've had ANYdvd/DVDShrink not work before. Twilight is an example)

I'm using DVD Shrink and AnyDVD Version 6.6.2.3.....I was getting the running out of memory issue on my laptop that has 8 gigs of Ram...I knew something was funny. I also tried just making it into the ISO with DVD shrink without compressing and still got the same thing. so I used IMGburn to make the ISO file and it worked. No memory issue. Then I used Nero 9 to burn the ISO to a DL-DVD and it worked fine.

I use DVDfab6 and AnyDvd - one or the other to decrypt and rip the video. I still have great luck with DVDFAB and good luck with ANYDVD as my go to backup. I then pass it through DVDSHRINK and burn it to disc with Nero. I have not had a movie that I could not burn. A couple of times I had to just do the movie and not the extras but I never watch those anyways.

When I use DVD Shrink I get a cycle redundancy error.

When I use DVDFab it just keeps analyzing the disc for 30+ minutes

If the original disk is dirty or scratched that could be the source of the problem.

The cyclic redundancy check error (CRC) means that the error correction system in your computer has found a major difference between the sums of data both horizontally (parity inner error) and in the column checks (parity outer error) and any additional redundant information added to the data. Because nothing adds up properly to correct the error, it can't interpret what the information is supposed to be. (Error correction is designed to determine an incorrect sum of data to pinpoint exactly what part is wrong and then to reconstruct the correct information from other sums of data.) In this case the error is too big to fix.

It could mean the disc is bad, that there was transient debris at some point on the disc that fell off, that the recording on the disc is not the best, or that there was a transfer problem. Run a quality check on the disc to see if there is a spike in error rates somewhere. On DL discs the spike is usually at the layer break. If you do find a big spike, record the video onto another DL disc and check the recording afterwards. (Recording data onto DL discs is not a good idea. Video is more forgiving.)

ALSO:
DVD Shrink is an old repper without updates (2004).
Using DVDFab: re-insert the Original DVD when DVDFab is looping analizing....it help too.....If the Problem still....then just upgrade the Program.

Good luck !

Try DVDFab 7
The ISO file for Movie Only; is less than 4,000MB big....no need for compression.

There seem to be some dead cells in the menu navigation that leads to the title screen. The latest dvdfab beta doesn't remove or fix them. I'm getting the same warnings from vobblanker after using various different versions of dvdfab.

Menus: detected 8 cells with pointers mismatched between VTSM_C_ADT and PGC_PBK tables using VTSM_C_ADT initial and ending pointers

List of cells:
VTS 01, PGC 22, CELL 01
VTS 01, PGC 22, CELL 02
VTS 01, PGC 23, CELL 01
VTS 01, PGC 23, CELL 02
VTS 01, PGC 24, CELL 01
VTS 01, PGC 24, CELL 02
VTS 01, PGC 25, CELL 01
VTS 01, PGC 25, CELL 02

A full disc or customized rip will lock up after hitting play in the menu; neither vobblanker nor fixvts can touch this one. I would try and find the dead/fake cells with vobblanker manually through trial and error but I guess I'm just not that dedicated any more.

sony releases can be very frustrating, there should be an update some time soon that will allow a clean rip until then it looks like main movie only, no menus or extras.
