Quote: I looked at the how to do this here on the site but they don't open right for my computer.
The procedure is that you open the movie with DVD Shrink and Click 'Re-author'..
Drag the Title that you want (usually Title 1) from the right to left side of the window.
On the left side of the screen, right click on the title and 'Set start/End Frames'
Make your selection and 'OK' then 'Backup'.
What's different when you try it.

Do you want a single chapter or a single episode.
Each episode is a title.
Each Titles chapters can be selected in reauthor mode.
You either select the chapter or use the slider to select the range you want to keep.
In this example, I selected Chapter 3 of a title.

And after I am in Re Auther Mode I drag the Title I want to the Left hand side. Then I whent into Prefeerancess. And the Dropdown List for DVD Target Size has 4 GB 8 GB Costum. If I click Costum the box lets me type in MBs the size I want.
I did not know what to do because it will not go onto a Blank DVD just my Hard Drive and I want no Compresson.
Please tell me what this is for and how to set it????

DVD Shrink outputs all of the files that are required to author a DVD - that's why there are .IFO .BUP and .VOB files.
The default output size settings are for burning to blank disks that are 4 or 8 GB - although you can set a custom size.
Since you are selecting a single chapter there is no transcoding taking place (it's because the small size selected will fit on a disk without transcoding) and you would leave the size at either 4 or 8.
DVD Shrink does not change frame rate.
It does not encode the video - thus there is no change in video bitrate.
DVD Shrink does not compress the audio - it is saved unchanged - you merely select which audio streams you wish to keep.
If the source DVD audio plays ok on your PC, the output audio should be the same.
If you don't intend to burn the output files in DVD format (that is you don't intend to play the output on a standalone player), then you can simply play the VTS_01_1.VOB file on the PC with your media player of choice.

I think I know why my Video comes out greate but my Audio for the Talking is very low and the Music and sond is very High.
First I put my DVD in and then when it starts to play in my Media Player I stop it and closs it.
Then I start my DVDShrink and go to Open Disk and let it load the DVD.
Then I go to Re Auther Tab and on the Right hand side I drag my Title I want over to the Left hand side.
Then I click Backup.
Sould I be doing something with the Audio???
Like on the other screen to just do a Backup you have to pick your audio and video.
When I am in Re Auther do I have to set my audio or somethin???

DVD Shrink has no problems with the audio video sync up just the Bacground is very high and the voices are very low??????????????????

Run DVD Shrink open the original DVD and check the audio - the sound should be ok.
Use reauthor and select a clip - play it back in DVD Shrink.
Open up the part you saved and compare.

Click Re-author, drag the title then select the audio.
Select the frames you want to keep.
Play the selection to verify the audio is ok then Backup the clip.
Close and re-open DVD Shrink.
Load the selection that you saved and play it back to re-check the audio.

OK first I played the DVD on my computer and all plays ok even the sound.
Then I opened the DVD in DVDShrink and played the Title I want and the sound played ok.
So this is what I did??
On the Main DVDShrink screen ware you can pick the audio you wnt to encode I pick 5.1 and uncheck all the others.
Then I uncheck all EXTRA menus and Titles and things I don't want.
NOW I pick Re Auther Tab and just the Titles show up on the right so I drag the one I want to the left.
I click Backup and all goes ok.
Then I did what you told me I opened up just the VOB File that it put on my desktop and played it in DVDShrink and the audio plays great.
But if I go to my Desktop and play the VOB File with my Windows Media Player Houme Clasic I got with k Lite Pack the background sounds are still very very High and the Voices are very low.
So it does play the file great in DVDShrink just not on desktop.
Now one time befor I used DVD Decripter on a DVD and the VOB plays the audio great so I know my audio systems are ok but I can't use it on this DVD that's why I picked DVDShrink.
What now?????????????????

DVD Fab I did try because it is free but you can only Rip the whole DVD not just one Title you want. I have a Simpsons DVD and I just want to take one Show off it.
Am I right DVDFab can not do this????
And VLC always works for me for say 3 weeks and then it goes down and wont even play anything till I re install it.????????????????
Windows Media Clasic Home wioth K Lite pack plays everything.. Do I have to ajust a stiing in Playback maybe?????????
