I love the re-author option for cutting out scenes I deem inappropriate or language that's too rough.
I re-author just the movie, take out all the extra languages I don't need, hi-light the everything under dvd structure and ananlyze it. Then burn it to disc. But everywhere I have cut is a pause when I play it in the dvd player.
It works better in the computer, and of course seemlessly in DVD Shrink. Does anyone know how to fix this?
thanks! ~ Theresa

After rip the Movie: On "Re-Author"....did you doubble click or drag from right to left the "Main Movie" (Is the right way)?
Or you just un-tick wherever you do not want to be including on it (audio's and Subpicture's)?
The right way is:
Rip > Re-Author > Deep Analysis (optional) > Burn

I use DVD Decrypter to decrypt it (Transformers 2), opened the file with DVD Shrink, used Title 47 (which is the movie only) under re-author I double clicked Title 47 to add it to the left. I cut the scene I want, add 47 again, start from the next scene I want to keep and continue doing that until all the scenes and language was cut that I wanted. I also uncheck the subscripture I don't want. Then I burn it to DVD. But the parts I cut out of the middle of the movie creates weird pauses and I'm looking for a way to fix that, if there is. I found a post on another forum of someone with the same problem who said they fixed it but never how and that was from 2004. So I'm holding out hope that there's a cure.

I have the same problem my self the first time I rip Tranformers 2 Using DVD Decrypter only.
PROBLEM:
Shrink do not recognize the the "Simple File" that DVD Decrypter made.
SOLUTION:
DVD Shrink is looking for a Mounted ISO using "Demon Tools" or by "Re-Decrypt" to create a file full of VOB's.
NOTE: You can Re-decrypt using any other "Ripper" Program !
Hope this help you.
Good luck !

My questions are:
After use DVD Decrypter to rip the Movie; How do open the File using DVD Shrink ?
Or Maybe you Rip the Movie using another Program before DVD Decrypter or after Decrypter ?
Or Maybe you Rip the Movie Twice using DVD Decrypter ?

Open DVD Shrink, got to Re-author, and in the right hand section of the screen, you will see you can click on your hard discs and I just find where I saved the file to using DVD Decrypter. You can do this with any decryption program, such as DVDFab. DVDFab would rip the main movie for me, and for burning without editing it worked fine. But DVD Shrink wouldn't recognize the output files from DVD Fab for some reason, so I used DVD Decrypter instead.

I try it the way you say it.....and it work just fine.....DVD Shrink recognize the file as an ISO.......Great !!!
DVD Decrypter (Rip) > DVD Shrink (Compress, etc.) > DVD Decrypter (Burn)
I try to do it this way 2 weeks ago without be able to do it !
Now I do not understand why you have a problem with your back-up.....if it should be come out right !
I will recomend you to Try It again: Since DVD Shrink as a "Glich" (Some Times...maybe I would say 1% of the times or when you try to use it on a diff. way for the first time).
Is not explain on the DVD Shrink Guide, but Some People that read alot know about this Problem and recoment to Do the same Process "once again".
Thanks for your Reply.....and Good Luck !!!

Glad I was able to help! :)
A straight movie only copy works fantastic, it's only when I cut out scenes, like the metal tail coming out from under the dress, that I get the pauses. I just didn't know if there was a way to smooth those out. It plays much better from a DVD on a computer than it does the same DVD on my DVD player.
Anybody else have any suggestions?
Thanks! =)

Usually Compressing around 4,300MB with Shrink will help alot.
....and if you have some little pauses here or there: just Compress like 100MB or 200MB more....this time around 4,100MB or 4,200MB.
Good Luck !!!

I had the same trouble with pauses and hiccups between scenes when usng DVD Shrink to cut out just the music portion of concert videos, eliminating talk, intros, etc. The following method works, completely smoothing out the hiccups, but is a bit labor intensive.
1 - Using DVD Shrink to edit DVD video into multiple title segments as needed, and save result via backup.
2 - Use Nero Recode to "Remake DVD" which merges all of these little .vob files into a lesser number of big ones.
3 - Use IfoEdit to re-write the .ifo files on the Recode result. Now you will have ONE title that will play smoothly. No Hiccups
----------------
Usually my target is a video file to sync to my Zune. I use Handbrake for that last step to convert the vob files to a .mp4 file that the Zune likes.
The only fly in the ointment I've found (besides the amount of time it takes to complete the sequence) is that Nero Recode seems to force cropping/resizing from a widescreen format to the old TV 4:3 ratio. Generally the effect is small enough so most people don't even notice - but I do. Objects are taller and skinnier than in the original version.
Good Luck!

I should have noted that the version of Nero Recode freely and currently available for download from Ahead does NOT seem to have the "Merge" button available, but which is required for this operation.
The version of Recode that DOES have the "Merge" button which I am using was part of a Nero 6 s/w package recived with a Sony DVD-writer that I purchased quite a number of years ago.

Since Shrink adds a new title for every clip in re-author mode there will be a break between each.

I did find a solution to the problem for anyone else who wants to fix this issue. There's a free program called VOBMerge from this guy . Make sure to read the author's comment at the bottom to avoid problems.

Ha ha funny. Your a real card.
Our family thoroughly enjoys our movies, if we didn't see every movie that had one little thing in it I felt inappropriate we would maybe see PG & under... forever. So excuse me if I go to the trouble of making our family entertainment safe for anyone to watch.
And be more helpful next time. That's what people come here for.

I can't get the one VOB file to burn Nero tells me that anything over 2 gigs needs to be written with a UDF file system or some such thing. Anyone know anything about this? I'm unsure what to do.

Right, I guess that metal tongue would have seriously harmed your children's development as opposed to all the pointless brutality and destruction in the other scenes, right?

I have boys who I want to teach to respect women, uphold the preciousness of life. If they don't know this stuff isn't real I'm not a very good parent.
Again, nobody comes here for smarta** comments, they come here for help. If you can't be helpful, don't say anything at all.

LOL, sorry I forgot that watching a bomb shell like Megan Fox in a bimbo role like this will teach them "respect".
Apart from bringing this on yourself by your totally ridiculous view on parenthood and life in general I've already helped you in this thread: there's nothing you can do about the gaps!
So the obvious conclusion for you would be to stop calling people names (sugarcoated with asterisks) out of embarassment (setting a nice example for your kids, BTW) and stop using Shrink for something it wasn't designed for and do as everybody else would and watch other movies with your kids.

theresam - You've had your say, you're entitled to bring your children up correctly, however please refrain from abusing all who would disagree with you. I believe you were given the correct answers re removing certain scenes from a film (i've never had to/wanted to do it), and as a parent of two young girls myself i will end by saying that if you cannot abide (in a film) the odd references to things you don't like, you don't allow your kids to watch said film(s) until such time as they are old enough ie when they meet the age rating of the films concerned.

Thank-you k4kjf, I asked an honest question. It isn't just scenes from the new Transformers movies, how about the teeny bit of language in the newer Batmans? I'm not sure how I became the target of derision because of this. Even when I don't agree with other people in forums that are technical, I keep those opinions to myself. People come to technical forums for technical help, it should be kept that way.
