I just received my copy of Star Trek 2009 early. Making my back-up was similar to all the trouble with Transformers 2.
Used DVDFab6; main movie; pathplayer off, preview screen disabled; CHOOSE TITLE 21; had to "ignore" error only once, in the beginning.
This didn't work for me at all. Which version of DVDFab 6 are you using? I have 6.1.2.5. and everything froze up on me.
Success
I just got my coppie of Star Trek. Great movie for all us old Trekies and is very easy to backup using DVD Fab HD Decrypter 6.2.0.5 and DVD Shrink. Looks like you guys need an update a while back. All you have to do is to click on the green arrow in the top right corner and in the drop down menu chose pathPlayer and I like it set for Enable PathPlayer when necesary, it seems to work well for me, and then just save the ripped file to a Known spot and open the File with DVD Shrink and shrink the file to fit on a 4.7 G single layer disk

Put it in your dvd player and see which one plays.
If I can learn here so can you.
Search first, then ask. Words to live by.

I have successfully backed up my copy onto my hard drive using DVD Fab 6.0.2.2 without making any changes to the preview window or pathplayer. I am using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 and need to select which title I should use?
I have noticed a couple of people suggesting 21, but that does seem awfully small for a movie.
Also, should I re-rip with those options in DVD Fab changed?

I ripped Star Trek 2009 (UK R2), complete movie, full size (DVD9) using DVDfab Platinum v 6.2.0.5, then ran the files through FixVTS v1.603, then used DVD Rebuilder Pro v1.28.2 to rebuild to DVD 5 size with no problems, complete movie and all extras, superb quality.

After having seen the movie, I went back and did a +R DL burn of the entire disc with AnyDVD and ImgBurn also no problems on a Verb 2.4X Disc.

@jandajuic
I backed up Trek on a DVD 5 and the the compression for movie only was only 83%, very manageable by Recode in Adv Analysis and Slow Encode mode. The size of the movie is not too large to compress.

I used Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background. It burned ok, but did say "with errors" when it was finished. I've clicked through many of the scenes from start to finish and it seems to be playing fine.

I tried burning using only Title 21 and the quality is very poor.
Any ideas?

Just successfully backed up my copy of Star Trek. Used dvd fab 6.2 set to dvd 9 and copied the full disk to my hard drive. Didn't change anything with pathfinder. Then used DVD shrink to shrink the Main movie to 4.35G. Used free DVD only found region code and no other protection. Copied to a DVD using Nero 7ultra. Works great and looks great.

I have not used dvd shrink in some time and now when I want to make
copies of some dvd's it does not seem to work.
On the first dvd after 16% it says "data error (cyclic redundancy check)
do you know what that means?
On the second dvd it goes to 48% and then I get an error that says:
"failed to read file D:/" the wrong diskette is in the drive.Insert %2 (Volume Serial number %3) into drive %1
Does anyone know what this means
Is there a newer program better than DVD Shrink 3.2 that I should be using.
I appreciate any help
thanks

Did you copy with dvd fab 6.2 first...then use shrink to shrink the image on your hard drive. shrink wouldn't work directly from the dvd for me either.

DVD Shrink has not and will not be updated any more since 2005 but there are some free software you can use to rip it to the HD and then you can use DVD Shrink to make a back up that will fit on a 4.7 GB Disck I like DVD Fab 6.2.0.5 HD Decrypter it is easy to use and most importantly on my budget its free.
