Hey Experts!! I need some expert advice. First of all I would not be in this mess if I knew what type of wire to use for installing a mod chip on a slim ps2. (I just ordered a 30 gauge wire). I looked everywhere online and many said 15 awg wrapping wire which is totally incorrect. I bought a 24 gauge wire from radio shack which is the thinest they got andIt was still too big. Stupid me trying to do this now. I was using swap magic all this time and now I think the disc went bad.
Anyways, I bought a Matrix infinity chip and according to the diagram I attacked point R first. Well thats where I had the issue. I soddered the wire and it came off taking the copper sheet (square thing on the board) with it. So then I started scrambling around only to order a smaller wire, and now I have to wait. So I put everything back together and now, the screen does not turn on. You know the chime and picture of space for the ps2 setup screen. I'm thinking it has to do with my screw up mod.
So my question is/are:
First, is this my problem? (yeah, probably cause everything was working before)
IF not, then what should I check?
If So, then
Is there a way to etch some copper, using a liquid copper, or copper foil?
Is the board salvageable, or there is no hope; get another ps2?
I have attached a pic. You probably can't tell but point R is black because there is no copper there. Sodder will not stick on to the board at all. Everywhere else I applied it and was ready to. [img][img][/img][/img]
However, No there is no way to put the track on to the board, smaller soldering iron - if you heat the board too much then the tracking comes away.
If it was just a solder tag (no connections to it) then it should have no effect on the board, it probably had a small track coming from it to somwhere else on the board, you have to re make this with wire to get it to work.
