Ok i know this has been asked many times before but havent seen anything in the past year or so. Are any of the other DVD+R DL discs on a par with Verbs?
Have ALWAYS used Verbs for my backups but its becoming harder and harder to find the Singapore ones and was just wondering if anything has caught up with the quality of the Verbs as of yet?

Would rather avoid Memorex tbh. There are loads of cheaper discs i have seen i.e memorex,Aone,TDX etc but i was more looking for something that is similar in terms of quality to the verbs instead of just discs that will work.
Cheers for the replies.

Just bought 40 from Newegg, and they were Singapore. Microcenter also uses only Singapore from my experiences with them, although they are slightly more expensive than Newegg.
If you absolutely need an alternative, I've used Windata's in the past with 0 coasters. They are like 50 cents a disc, much cheaper than Verbs. On the downside, I speculate they were part of the reason my DVD drive died on me.

I've posted this before, but this is a prolific comparison guide for all common media.
link Yes, this guide is up to date.
TDKs vary greatly... it all depends on the specific company that manufactures them, as TDK outsources to three different companies (if memory serves me).
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Ended up getting some more Verbs from Ebay but also picked up a pack of 10 A-One discs to see what they are like as on some websites they got half decent reviews. Cheers for the replies.

STOP recommending Memorex and the like. STOP STOP STOP!!!
Any of you "real modders" know damn well that Memorex are crap. Yes they work, but you know their limitations (mainly, more prone to errors, and no archival lifespan).
The answer to deejay 248's question of "Are any of the other DVD+R DL discs on a par with Verbs?" should be worded: Yes, a few, namely Taiyo-Yuden and maybe Pioneer. Practically any cheap brand will work, but lack the reliability and lifespan of Verbatim and TY, so use those cheaper brands at your own "risk".
STOP leading noobs (not you deejay248) down the cheap disc path. From my 3 years at AD,
more times than not CAD issues account for practically half the problems (if not more) of noob's burning woes. It never fails, they get a better brand and their CAD issue is solved.

It's more about the media than the burner, for an error free, everlasting disc. And Memorex IS crap on the grand scale.

Ritek is crap because Memorex is crap. They are one in the same.
You guys only look at the fact that you burned a game onto a CAD and it worked.
I know that games work on CADs, because I burn games to Memorex all the time and they always work. I use them for my daughter's 360, because her box for some reason struggles with Verbs. It's the only box I've seen that won't read Verbs, and I've flashed about 75-80 consoles so far. That, and the fact that my sister gets spindles of 100 each Memorex DVD+R DL and Imation DVD+R for free every month is the ONLY reason I use them for my daughter. My son and myself only use Verbs in our 360s. A lot of her games will simply stop working months down the line, and have to be re-burned. The same goes for movies on CADs. Some just stop working. No archival value.

I'll have to nod my vote for Memorex as well. Those that have to Use Verbs have cheap burners. If you have a cheap burner, you may have to get more expensive disks.
100 Back ups for me -- maybe two coasters. All Memorex. Sony external burner.
All of this talk about "if you're a real modder..." Please...

What kind of burner do you have? how much did it cost? Experiment with various disks. What may work for me over and over again, may not work for you.
