well that would be a nice change from WWII stuff. but i dont believe it will happen. i was pretty much under the assumption, that Vietnam war was off limits when it came to games (since i've only seen about 3 in my life).

Ya, I wish there were more Vietnam war games, as well. That and Native American vs. cowboy/settler games.

To tell you the truth, BF:Vietnam wasn't horrible. It had some good ideas and some neat features. It just couldn't compete in any way, shape or form with Battlefield 2.

Actually, I'm on the OP's side. I do believe I read that the next installment was going to be in Vietnam.

As most know, Activision publishes games from two different developers working on the Call of Duty series. There's Infinity Ward and there's Treyarch. Each developer alternates a release. That's why for the 360 we had

- CoD 3 (Treyarch)
- CoD MW (IW)
- CoD W@W (Treyarch)
- CoD MW2 (IW)
- CoD Vietnam (Treyarch)

Treyarch has been releasing their games with historical value, and IW has moved to the "here and now" type of war. This is why so many people were confused and upset when W@W came out. They couldn't understand why CoD went from modern war back to WW2. It's because each developer has chosen their own path on how the CoD series should evolve.

Remember all the talk a short while back about IW dropping the "Call of Duty" from the Modern Warfare 2 title? That's why, because they wanted to branch away from the WW2 aspect that the CoD series was originally known for.

But long story short, it's Treyarch's turn to release the next CoD game. And with them sticking with the historical value, I completely believe it very well could be Vietnam.

bhetrick, you are good at making it easier for people to understand! I mean I knew that there were 2 developers for the COD Franchise, but it's good for people that didn't know.

Anyways, I think that Activision should just give the COD Franchise to Infinity Ward, cause there games seem to be more fun. I dunno, since COD2 was released, when COD3 came out, I was so confused at first, on why it wasn't that great.

You are kidding right? Infinity Ward is a horrible developer. Modern Warfare is nothing but a hyped up game. It stands no chance against World at War. All infinity ward is good at is milking people's money and killing the gaming industry.

I can't say I'm interested in the Vietnam era because I never played a any Vietnam war game and It will probably be pretty boring... I'm going to assume a lot of jungle warfare.

I was really hoping they'd do a World War I game.

There's always going to be pros and cons when it comes to games.

In my opinion, MW had a better single player. The story was better. But W@W had better online. The maps were layed out better. MW maps seemed to faver those who loved to just run around, guns blazing. The W@W maps seemed to favor using a little more tactic.

I haven't tried the MW2 online yet. I haven't decided which console to buy it for. I don't use LIVE enough anymore to justify paying for it, not when I can play it for free on PSN. I'm a fanboy of neither console, I'll just go the more practical route.

Yes that's true all games have pros and cons, but I don't get what the hatred with Treyarch is all about. Treyarch has provided so much more content than Infinity Ward. As far as I know, Infinity Ward is only developer bent on changing the gaming industry because of their hyped up game which I don't like one bit and I'm sure everyone knows why.

Because it gives you nightmares. I know it seems realistic but they will not pop out of the screen at night and take you're manhood. They might NVM.

well ofcourse he didnt declare war, the president can't declare war only congress can.

and IW has officially lost me as a customer, im returning MW2 as soon as i can waiting for Treyarchs next game, i enjoy there's so much better.

MW2 is just a over hyped game with no planning put into it, (hince no beta, and all the hacking) and they took way to long to release patches for the hacks that crap was not worth my $60.

im not buying another IW game again, treyarch all the way

treyarch isnt all that great either. they have yet to fix the issue with making a party for zombie killing. i have never been able to invite my brother and friends into my lobby and search for a match without all of them getting kicked. no have thousands of other people. so i wouldnt be putting treyarch on such a high pedestal.

Don't forget about Call of Duty 2 (IW). That was a launch title for the 360. Also, there was talk in November about a third publisher being thrown into the CoD series. IDK if that has ever been confirmed by Activision, but seeing as how Kotick is all about milking the series, I wouldn't doubt it.

I agree with your theory. Treyarch has never strayed from the WW2 setting in their CoD games, but I don't really think there is anything left in that setting that people want to see. I do question their choice to go with Vietnam, however. If the setting is indeed Vietnam, all you would see is essentially a more modern take on W@W (minus the parts that take place with the Russian guy, obviously). A lot of gameplay on W@W takes place in jungles, and you would definitely be seeing a ton of that in a Vietnam based game.

I can clearly see your nuts. Everyone in their right mind knows that zombies were only in WW2 and Vietnam ;)
