does having your xbox chipped reduce the chances of getting banned or is it the same chance of being banned as using firmware? (sorry if this does not makes sense i worded it the best as i could.) im not sure on what to go with a mod-chip or flashing... what are the cons and pros of both of them?

p.s. yes i have already searched and i could not find any threads that cleared this mess up for me...

I believe the way players get banned is from their backup not being exactly as it should. As far as players are aware of, M$ does not detect firmware and ban people because of it.

There is a possibility that the chip is safer than firmware, especially with older revisions of the firmware. I doubt there is any benefit for the new Lite Touch firmware, though, as it is so close to original.

The upside of flashing is that compared to a chip, it's much faster. The downside of flashing is that you may need to flash again in the future, for firmware updates. Chips will probably not need any updates, however.

So this is really less of a question of safety and more of a question of convenience. When 'safest' really comes into play is when you choose which rips of games to play.
