Ok, for somereason JF 166 won't work, it has no get dummy bin bar, but JF 155 is fine. my problem is the firmware. for somereason i get a "firmware is not a valid type of firmware" or something like that. I have d/l it 3x and still get the same error. It is an xp pro system, is there something i have to change to make the .bin file valid?

hi bklyn1028
did you rename the lite-on firmware after you dl it? i made the error of not taking the 'repack' out of the file name and had a similar problem.
hope this helps

You can't load IX 1.6 into SOURCE. You must load IX 1.6 into TARGET and your dummy.bin into SOURCE.

i renamed it (took repack out) and it still won't load, says not a valid firmware....when i extracted it...it looks like a standard window file...meaning...square document with rainbow colored dots in the middle..doesn't looke like a .bin file

Do you even have a dummy.bin?
DUMMY.BIN = SOURCE
IX 1.6 = TARGET

hi again, if u right click on the ix16-liteon.bin file and click on properties does it still class it as a BIN file? you may find that windows has associated this type of file with something else.

ok try this and see if it works:
click start,click run,type in cmd and click ok,
then type
assoc .fileext=
and press enter
this will return the association to none.
(where .fileext is the extension of the file type you want changed to none)
example;
assoc .bin=
press enter, now .bin is associated with nothing
hope that helps

You can't open .bin with any normal Windows programs. You must use Jungle Flasher. I've repeated my self twice now. Load your dummy bin into source and your IX 1.6 repack into target.
DUMMY BIN goes into SOURCE
IX 1.6 goes into TARGET

or this......
Open the folder options control panel and click the file types tab. Scroll down the list until you find the right extension. Highlight the extension and click the delete button.
If you don't know the extension for the file type click in the view tab in the folder options control panel. Scroll down that list and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
Hope this helps,

Well, Eureka!...it's done....i did what you said, i manually loaded source folder (dummy bin) and it took it, and i manually hit target folder (ix1.6) and it took it. Of course, credit has to go to James from ixtreme.net, he was on the phone with me the whole time, and guided me through it. But at least it's done...but a second problem,
the liteon was my grandson's 360 (i was helping the kid out)..now my grandson's 360 (samsung drive) won't read disks. Says "reading", then it says disk is unreadable. This also was flashed months ago with 1.6. could the laser be gone?
