Memorax DVD+R DL discs. WATCH OUT!

So I bought the 15 pack Memorax DVD+R Dl discs (made from Tiawan) hoping i could burn games onto it. I used IMGBurn to burn the discs and when I changed my book type to LG and changed the "New Settings" to DVD Rom, BAM, "Incompatible Medium Installed". I don't know if it's my dvd/ cd-rom, but i'm pretty sure its the type of disc. WATCH OUT EVERYBODY! DON'T USE MEMORAX!

really memorex suck? in all seriousness though, most everyone knows this but i for one appreciate any newbie trying to help instead of the usual "how do i make my xbox play copied games" question.

lol i meant memorex. i'm sorry uturn but i'm about to u-turn back into newbie mode. I found out it wasnt the discs but it was my drive. i can't change my book type and i don't know what to do loll and i just bought this laptop so i'm not sure if i have to update it now or not.

You NO LONGER need to change the booktype. Stop worrying about that and actually try to burn a game on your crappy discs.
FYI, Buy Verbatim DVD+R DL discs.

Look I know everyone says to use verbatim, ooooo those are so special, but seriously, I have been using Memorex for over a year now and have not run into any problems what-so-ever, I've never even burned a coaster! I don't see what the big deal is? Also I'm a little drunk right now, been playin power hour by myself lol TIME TO MAKE SOME CHILI! But seriously Memorex are fine, and I get a sweet ass discount cause I work at Best Buy so if anyone needs some discs let me know!

"If they work for you then great! But I would not recommend them at all to avoid issues and potentially wasting money when you can get better results with Verbatim."

I recommend them to everyone I help. Over 2 1/2 years, hundreds of burns, zero I repeat ZERO coasters. Add my friends and we got well over 500 burns with zero coasters.
Unless your 360 needs the highest quality because its a low quality drive, hiatchi, then go right ahead.

that's a dumbass statement from somebody who's been around here as long as you have. I use memorex and tdk but I'm not stupid enough to recommend them. read up on disc cosistency and disc manufacturing processess and then see if you can see what the big deal is.

I am on my 4th package of 25 and only one burn failure... and that was all my fault. I had forgot to turn off the streaming and kids had three different movies playing at once on the 360's. Other than that one time I have never had one bad burn on Memorex. By the way I even picked up two packages of 25 from Office Max for $19.99 each about a week ago.

Actually sorry everyone! i found out that the burner on my laptop is garbage and doesn't burn dual layer discs so i tried my bro's laptop with the memorex discs and so far I've had no problems. The Memorex discs are legit and I'm dumb loll. Thanks everybody for your help!

note to all:
if you use memorex (like I do) and they work, then so be it.
but do not be stupid enough to recommend them to new users.
not all memorex work. because some are made here, some are made there, some made like this and some made like that. in other words you may be lucky enough to get and keep getting batches that work. but a noob who happens to start off with an incompatible batch of memorex will get frustrated. then get more frustrated when dumbasses keep saying memorex works great but his won't. he'll think it is his burner, his computer, his windows, his ixtreme, his rip, his download, or anything but the disc. in the shor time I been here I have been able to realize that one of the most common problems is memorex and other cheap crap discs. a lot of people who have problems are told to switch to verbatim and they always post back saying the verbatims worked and they changed no settings at all.
what you tell a noob is to use verbatim and once he finishes a pack of those and knows exactly what he is doing then he can try his luck with the cheap sh!t.
even a noob like me knows this. BECAUSE I READ!!!

Wow so much negativity in this post, if nothing nice to say keep it to yourself. I use Memorex with no problems, just install your games to hardrive if possible. Verbs are better but I only use verbs on games i play alot

Some burners like them and some don't. They have cheap dye in them causing a lot of bad burns. We all know Verbs are the best. If you have a good burner, Memorex will work. Of course the crappy die is also hard on your xbox 360 laser as well. I use them, but then again I'll fix it if it breaks.

Isn't it almost common sense to buy a few first to see if it works with your setup and then buy more if it does?
*shrugs* I've backed up over 250 Memorex disks and have only had a handful bad due to the disc being defective. Most of these backups are terrible anyways and I don't spend more than 30 mins playing it. Do I really care if it's on Verbatims at double the cost? Nope. If we weren't all cheap bastards we wouldn't be backing up 360 games, would we?
But Congrats OP on noting that these discs just happen to work on your setup, maybe you'll notify us next time you take a dump too. We'll all be waiting in anticipation.

those of you who put down discs like Memorex , you are wrong !!!! I have burned over 8000 discs using memorex , verbatum , maxell , etc !!! very few coasters in the trash one disc is not realy better than the other --- at least I have no problem with any of them -- my personal collection is now at 5000 movies and games at around 1000 --- so put a cork in it -- rookie --- and learn to use the programs you have --- In my vault I have 37 programs and one will work when another will not -- also one company has different protection than another , some simple some not --- keep notes and upgrade your software !!! LIVE AND LEARN --- the ripper
