No actually it doesn't work that way.
Stateside we removed the U from a lot of words. They are both correct.
You broke the cardinal sin of trying to correct someone's spelling who was trying to correct someone's spelling while doing it incorrectly.
That's pretty much what i said, i never implied that favor was incorrect - just that favor came from favour. You broke the cardinal sin of trying to correct someone without even reading their post...
