If you're new to the 360 and have always used PS1 PS2 & PS3 controllers, I can see why you want to stay with Sony's controller. But once you use the 360's controller, you'll see that it's excellent. It's only flaw is the D-Pad, but that's not used extensively in games anymore. The analog stick is not "floaty" like the PS1&2&3 analog, AND the left stick located in a more natural spot. Give it a serious try before spending 60 - 75 bucks to use an outdated controller.
Do all the buttons on the PS2 controller work in sync with an xbox game using the adapter? Will all the PS3 buttons function the same way as the xbox buttons?
No, all of the adapters are broken. Don't use them.
Take five minutes to get used to the 360 controller and you will see how vastly superior it is.
Altight, this isn't a discussion about the superiority of one controller over the other. Anyway, you mentioned that all adapters are broken. If this is the case, then why are people buying them and aren't complaining about them? I need to know if these adapters allow a PS3 controller to mimic an xbox controller. Will I be able to move around in an xbox game with the use of all buttons?
Nobody is dumb enough to buy an adapter to let them use a PS2 controller on a 360 that's why. Considering the adapter alone is the cost of a controller + charging kit
Then what else are the adapters for PS2 controllers made for? Why are people using them to play PS2 controllers on their xbox?
If you look closely you still have to have an xbox 360 controller plugged in. It also supports mouse and keyboard.. this is why they were made. The PS2 support was an afterthought.
Oh and please show proof of someone using one of these things to play a 360 game with a PS2 controller.. please. Like a picture or something? Anything will do really. Then I will show you an idiot who wasted their money.

I remember using converters to use PS2 controllers on GameCube. But that was when Nyko had converters for 10 bucks. I got 3 of them for the price of 1 GameCube controller. A month later, I got three extra GC controllers (better layout/feel).

Are you saying that a PS2 controller through an adapter will not operate as well as an xbox controller?

No one said that directly, but I doubt it would be 100% responsive/accurate as the 360 controller. After all, it IS an add-on adapter, which has to convert the signal.
I haven't bought converters recently, but I've owned:
SNES-to-Genesis......... Lagged
PS1-to-Saturn........... Lagged
PS2-Xbox................ Lagged
PS2-to-GameCube......... Slightly lagged, but seemed to "reset" itself about every 7-10 minutes.
Hmmmm..... Maybe I should search for an Xbox360-to-BS3 adapter. Maybe It'll give me a reason to play something other than BluRay movies on my BS3.

1)i have helped many people out on afterdawn including you
2)you "abused" me first.
3)if me saying that hurt you to the core like that im sorry i thought u could handle it being the man you are.
4)since you are the newbie and know all the rules of this forum you would know double posting is not allowed but since you did it multiple times in a single thread you don't know this. so for this i reported you :)
5)since you didn't listen to me or multiple other sr. members and people well respected here i don't understand why you continue to ask for our help.
6)ok im done now, either spend 70 dollars or...wait ill say it again. MAN UP and use the normal controller that was designed for that system. Or you should get a ps3 that a ps2 controller works for.

Wow...
Guys, he asked if there were any adapters, you answered him.
He asked how well those adapters worked, you told him to use the 360's controller and that the PS1/2/3's was inferior.
That's not exactly answering his question, you know. That's like... offering him steak when he wanted lobster.
So chris, andmill, eebee, he's not being arrogant, he just wanted his question answered. Which he didn't get until just a few posts back.
That said, you guys are more or less right about the 360's controller. It's DESIGNED to fit more naturally to the hand. Of course, that doesn't mean that it necessarily IS. I could write a frickin' essay explaining what's wrong with just the whole trigger/bumper deal (which was stupidly ported to the PS3's controller, too), but I'd rather not waste the time.
Anyway.
Even a PS2-to-PS3 adapter has some noticeable lag. The 360's Xbox button also requires an actual Xbox controller to be used, so it's a bit pointless to have a wired one lying around doing nothing until you decide to check your Friends list or whatnot. The few seconds it takes to switch over could easily result in a death in CoD or Halo, too.
So, like they said, you'd probably have the best luck just using the 360 controller. If you absolutely can't, you MIGHT be able to use a generic wired USB controller that's shaped like a PS2 controller. I'm still not totally sure on that one. I know you can use them on the PS3 (sans PS button and motion sensing), but I haven't tried hooking mine up to my 360 yet.
But yeah, food for thought.

KajNrig, thanks for specifically answering my question. It's good to know there a few intelligent people like youself who know how to listen (or, read in this case).
KajNrig, I reported abuse from John_Donn based on his insults to me. I urge that you ban him from my thread. People can't stand him or his insults. He did the same thing on other threads. We'd appreciate it.

First of all, stop multi-posting. You should've read the rules, and you should know that multi-posting's a no-no. There's an Edit button on the top right-hand corner of your messages.
Second of all, chill and don't worry about it. They actually WERE trying to help you (dunno about John_Donn, haven't looked at his posts), albeit in a roundabout way. Also, I can't ban him. You'd have to ask a mod or admin to do that.
Third of all, I'm always happy to help.

wow quite the FLAME war going on here ^..^
in all seriousness, i would atleast try the 360 controller. oh & btw you can search some of the better Ebay stores & find the adapter for less than $30. Once you're sure you want one, why not buy 2 & keep one for backup? you could always Craigslist it later on if you didn't need it.
personally, i like the older PS1 DualShock controllers & use that on a PS2. They also seem to last longer than the PS2 version. Now isn't that weird? (yeah $ony making cheaper controllers so we have to buy new ones later...)
