Want to buy a homebrew 360

I'm excited about all the new developments in the 360 scene and I am just trying to buy a homebrew 360 or get my elite modded (vulnerable kernel/dash) for xmas because I sadly lack the talent to solder anything to a board.
I also tried to flash a 360 once and it died >.<
I looked online and couldn't find many places and need some help here.
I don't think it goes against forum rules if I get pmed suggestions (I read its bad to advertise mod services in posts or sigs). If I am wrong, my deep apologies to Creaky and the moderators, and I understand the closing of this thread.
Basically I want a 360 with:
Flashed DVD-ROM Drive
Jtagged for Xell/Linux/Emulators/Homebrew
DVD2XBOX360
XeXloader
My basic goal is to have a 360 that can play 360 games off hard drives (360 and external) and run homebrew (emulators, XBMC360 when it comes out) off the 360 itself, I'd rather not deal with discs unless its better that way.
Questions:
1. So I should get a flashed jtagged 360 with XBReboot correct?
2. Who wins the battle: Freeboot + Cygnos v2 (2nd Nand) vs XBReboot?
2. Does XeXloader required a jtagged 360?
3. Any other knowledge that I should know?
Thanks for everyone's help!
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Hi there,
Firstly - Great site, great help, ive always browsed topics on this site for the information i need without registering and you guys really know your stuff =) So i registered too, hope i can help some people too!
2nd:
I have two xbox 360's, one elite hdmi, one non-hdmi. i would like to make one of them homebrew (i believe the elite cannot be done due to it being the wrong type) and am looking for the best way to go about it, preferably without having to buy any chips or anything, but if no other way, please do tell =)
Hope to hear from you guys soon,
Cheers, Sheriff L

1.) Well I have one using Xbreboot. and it is very nice and the people that developed it have done a great job.
It is however still in beta stages and thus glitchy. I am running games directly off an external 1TB hdd and some games play flawless with fantastic load times, nearly none. But others such as Assassin's creed 2 are either very slow or non playable.
I will be offering this service but I am waiting for at least one more release and then some testing with my own box before offering it publicly. Others are offering this service. I believe for some its a quick cash, too bad for the customer situation. Again not saying all of them but personally I will be waiting. I dont think it would be fair to charge for a sevice that is glitchy and most likely will need to be updated soon and probably not do-able by customer.
2.) I think Freeboot may not have some of these issues but you will need a much larger investment for the Cygnos. But it is also in beta stages. All 360 Homebrew is.
3.)XEXloader does require a JTAG box.
4.) If you do decide to buy one off someone just don't expect it to work perfectly. As said 360 Homebrew is still beta and not really for the typical 360 user right now.
I have heard there maybe a way to update to a newer version off disc or file on HDD similar to the way MS currently does the updates. However this is still theoretical and unconfirmed.

Why do you think its the wrong type. all box types can be modded The only thing that makes it so you can't is what dash you are currently on. If your dash starts with a 6 or 7 most likely it will be moddable as long as it wasn't repaired since June 2009. Some of those have a 7xxx dash but they fixed the exploit. only way to know for sure on those is to Read Nand and check it. Also sent PM.

Thanks very much for the insight, that is what others have told me.
People say Freeboot + Cygnos v2 is better than XBR, but the technology still isn't perfect. So maybe I should wait awhile.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

give it at least a month, by then i'm sure the process will be refined and maybe even some tools might be released to make JTAGin easier. As stated by others it is very early stages of dev right now.

Thanks for the help, those guides are amazingly detailed...
I think im going to have to fix this 3 RRoD box i have and then just give it a go.
It's an old school box - been broken a while so hopefully it's compatible =)
My elite is ixtreme modded but used regularly on the net/updated all the time =/ prob got an unusable dash version.

That guide is crap! I could make a better guide than that. J/K
Very well laid out, plus links to all the software you need. If I can get my hands on a box with the right kernel, I'd be following that guide like a fat kid follows the ice cream truck.

When do you see this process becoming simplier? Similar to the original xbox modding. Or at least half as simple cause here is how i see it.
Xbox 360 mod-9/10 diffuculty
Orig Xbox mod-3/10
so im just looking for a 5 to 6 difficulty if that makes it simplier lol

right now its kinda in the air. it may actually get harder because if they can't find a way to get into the new dash these older moddable systems will become very hard to find.

In honesty it's really not that bad.
It's only 13 points on the mobo and the cable isn't hard to make.
Dealing with the nand dumps is tricky but if you read up it's very doable.
I think the biggest thing is finding exploitable boxes. Even if you can't do it there are going to be people advertising jtag so no worries.
XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD
Xbox 360 Red Elite 120GB HDD = no-stealth 1.6 & XBReboot V3 & 1TB usb hdd
PS2 Slim = freemcboot v1.8 - PSP Black Slim = 5.00m33-6
Wii = w/ Blue XCM ii-case, Wiikey2 & softmodded

I am just waiting for better and new software (especially emulators).
XBReboot can't do dual layer discs I have read and is glitchy, freezes a lot.
I have an elite in hibernation whenever the time is right.
I honestally think this can be done though, the soldering points on the board don't seem too hard. I just need to push myself to do it.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Ok now I am thinking about paying to have a Cygnos V2 installed into my old elite. Got a couple questions though:
1. Do I still have to do jtag soldering on the console for homebrew?
2. Will I still need to flash the DVD-ROM Drive or is there another way to install games to hds?
3. How hard is it to install software (freeboot, freexex, emulators, etc.)?
4. Anything else I should know (backup or safety steps, etc.)?
Thanks!
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

I would wager by the next e3 we can see a homebrew as good as the original xbox, perfected if u ant to call it that. Ive been feenin a homebrew myself but after reading this thread I can wait, would be awsome to get one though.
