Hey,
I have been following the "How to burn xbox 360 games" and I have been getting a strange error when I burn the game and pop it in the 360. The xbox says "Play CD" and brings to the audio/playlist mode of the disc.
Here's what I did:
1. Put the iso through abgx, it doesnt have stealth patching. The iso seems fine.
2. Burn the .dvd file with a verbatim disc in imgburn @ 2.4x. I have a TSST corp writer in my notebook. I also tried with a desktop writer and I still had the same problem.
3. I dont know what my firmware is, but a burned AC2 worked on my console.
Please advise.

But how come Assassins Creed 2 worked? I checked through abgx that it is a wave 4 game,
I tried to check the firmware, but it seems I may have to open up my 360 and I really dont know how to do that.
Also, would xbox360wavepatcher do the trick? If I use it to patch the iso to wave 3 or 4 or something. Would that work?

The latest version of imgburn.
Im trying to burn a new wave 6 game.
The game burns perfectly, but I get this strange error. I also tried burning from two different burners, and on two different dvds (imation and verbatim) as well.
I have no idea whats going on cuz I still got the same error.

Try running the burned disc through abgx to see if there are any problems with the burn.

Ok delete the .DVD file and burn the .ISO file using the layer break 1913760 in IMGburn. The set this goto SETTINGS then the WRITE tab and it should be on the right top corner.

No need to delete the dvd file, that won't make any difference.
Also setting the layerbreak with imgburn rather than using the .dvd file can mess up any non xbox 360 iso burns.

Yes you could screw up any not 360 burns if your don't pay attention but as for the .DVD and layerbreak it does make a difference. I tried a desktop for my first burns using the .DVD file and never got a working game. but just that simple trick made it work perfectly. I could not tell you why as i don't see the difference too but it made a huge one. Also making sure the break is correct is always a good thing. I noticed one of my burns had a bad layerbreak using the .DVD file. Which is what tipped me off to set it myself.

Actually, the first time I burned the disk I manually entered the layerbreak BUT I still had the .dvd file and it also had the correct layer break. Later, I removed the layerbreak from imgburn and used the layerbreak from the .dvd file only. No difference. Same problem.
Also:
Tried different disks ... check.
Tried different writers ... check.
Other burned copies work ... check.
Burned successful... check.
ABGX log says successfull ... check.
The only thing that I don't know is what firmware I have. The only thing I havent tried is using the 360 wave patcher.
Do you think that my firmware is old or something? If so, what wave should I change it to?

The AC2 backup you said worked, did you burn it yourself?
Was it wave patched?
If it wasn't wavepatched then i'm guessing you have at least 1.61 on your drive with AC2 being wave 4, if so then you will not need to use wavepatcher as 1.61 reads all known waves so far.

well i have the most up-to-date at all times so i suggest the same. I can't really think of how to check version. Any body got something on this? Maybe a disk trick that will simply boot only on up-to-date firmware? or older?

No, I didnt burn it myself :(
I got it from somebody and I have no way of knowing whether he patched it or not. He also burned it on a crappy disc. I remember it had a "update loop" problem, but once I got my 360 updated through another game, AC2 worked.

Run the AC2 disc through abgx to find out for sure, but if it had an update loop then the game sounds like it was wavepatched, if thats the case then you need to update the firmware or wavepatch the games.

Ok. When was the latest firmware released?
As far as I remember, the last possible firmware I could have updated to would be in early 2009. Also, im using the 360 dashboard version that allows you to install disks to hdd.
Im guessing I dont have the latest firmware.

Well 1.61 was released round about oct/nov 2009 and LT was released this year.
1.6 was released round about may 2009 so that may be your problem.
Try using the activate.iso, updating the firmware or if you are not bothered about live use the wavespatcher ;)

Try using the activate.iso, updating the firmware or if you are not bothered about live use the wavespatcher ;)
1. I will have to search for activate.iso. I think its like a boot-up disc to run the backup.
2. Updating the firmware would mean opening my 360 and I cant risk that.
3. If I use the wave patcher (dont care bout online), what wave should I patch it to?

If you prefer to use IMGBurn then follow the guide below. If you have CloneCD installed then you can use that to burn the ISO.
1: You need your Activate.iso file! GET HERE http://www.jungleflasher.net/files/activate.rar
2: Once you have the activate.iso file, you wanna drag and drop or save it to your desktop.
3: Insert a DVD+R DL into your dvd burner.
4: Now open up Activate.iso with any burning software you use. (I.E. Imgburn, Clonecd, etc? I personally use Imgburn? )
5: Now in your burning program go into your write setting tab and make sure your layerbreak is set to the Calculate Optimal setting. Also check your booktype for DVD+R DL and make sure its on the DVD-ROM setting and that your write speed is at 2.4x.
6: Start Burn!
7: As soon as the burn starts a message will pop saying, ?that the image is small enough for a regular DVD R, do you want to continue anyway??
(You wanna choose yes because burned to a regular DVDR the Activate.iso wont work!!!)
8: Next another message will pop saying, ?even though the image is small enough to fit into one layer its best to write in both layers, do you wanna go away from the norm and write in only one layer?? (Now I wanna stress?READ THIS MESSAGE CAREFULLY!!!!)
Choosing ?Yes? will cause all data to be wrttin into the first layer.
Choosing ?No? will cause data to be writing into both layers.
CHOOSE YES!!
9: It will burn then finish?
10: Insert the Activate.iso disk into your xbox 360. It will read for a little longer than usual then finally it will say ?Play DVD?. Press ?A? on your controller and a video should pop saying, ?Play this disk in an xbox 360 console?.
This is how you know you?ve burned the iso sucessfully!!
11: Now just eject the Activate.iso disk and insert your unstealthed, modified or Hybrid disk and it will load!!!
Or you can use the wavespatcher found here http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...rmwares-811141/
