The answer to both your questions should be obvious. Yes, $2 is very expensive when you can get the same game for:

Free (Wii and PC)
A one-time fee, if that (Xbox, PS2)
Pocket change

And when you're already capable of limiting costs so drastically, why would you ever even give thought to spending a whopping two hundred pennies on a game, much less four hundred?
CDR and DVDR media is not free...it is cheaper, but still not free. I wonder why you compair the PS3 to all the last-gen systems, and not to the 360...that's just silly. Plus, don't forget the hidden cost of copied games for the 360: a bricked console and a worthless xbox live account.

As WII and PC games can be run via ISO on your HDD that = free
360 games can be copied to the HDD also that = free
Original XBox games can be copied to the HDD = free

I guess if you look at it, the PS3, 360, Xbox, PC all have HDD's, so they could all be free and the need for blank media gone :)
1) It cost you "X" amount for your PC, Internet & etc = that is not free
2) 360 games that are copied to the HDD still need a disc to run (copied or not) = not free
3) Original Xbox needs a bigger HDD than stock to do this = that is not free

There is usually a cost one way or the other! Personally I like a good quality physical media as a backup WITH the use of a HDD for ease of use over just 1 option. Think about it ~ if the HDD in my PC dies I lose EVERYTHING! Having a disc backup is exactly what it is intended for...a backup!

There is usually a cost one way or the other!

1)Being given a PC by a friend, who happens to give you copies of games whilst your living at home with your parents = free
2)Not true, jtagged, running of the consoles 120GB HDD = free
3) Also not true, the stock HDD had enough room for one game, so that would = free

I think the whole ephasis of what KajNrig meant when he said WII/PC was free, was that the price that has gone into running back ups of them is nothing compared to $2 that would be needed to purchase Blu Ray media.

I mean we could debate costs untill we run out of words to write, we could argue that it costs to have internet to download games, or mods to hack said consoles, we could argue that it costs money to have the connsole powered on, but that would take away from the main point of what KajNrig was trying to get across.

In any case, the chances of the PS3 being hacked is slim to none. Sony have themselves more than covered.

The PSP hacking pretty much destroyed the library of games on the PSP.

So, the PS3 will never be hacked - end of discussion.

Nice post h3lder.

And in my opinion, the PSP hasn't done aswell as the DS simply because most people considered it a portable PS2.

I own a PSP and hardly use it for gaming. Mostly use it for music and reading manga.

The PSP isn't doing well either because no one's interested. When it comes to a console not being successful I think it has little to do with it being hacked or not. It's just a matter of whether people like it or not.

Unfortunately, not so many people want the PSPgo. I mean for starters the price is just ridiculous for such a small thing. I mean how silly can sony get.

They should have learnt from their earlier pricing mistake with the PS3 and not repeated it with the go.

I know a lot of fanboys out their would love to justify the price but any reasonable person would admit that it's way too high for such a small thing. Hell it's not even a cell phone lol. So i see no reason why it should cost that much.

I'm thinking in getting a PSP too - next holiday season - but like you said Promethos, I find it very expensive too. I'm not paying 169? for a new one (with 189? I can get an Xbox 360 Arcade).

I think the PSP is nice for some retro gaming and little else.
Sony hasn't taken advantage of its natural mobile potential. The titles are smaller versions of what exists in ps3. No killer game using wifi or the internet, and unfortunately, for them and us as well, they didn't even try.

People want to play mobile - watch how iPhone games are growing in number - but somehow this dedicated gaming machine named PSP is just to big, to expensive, so game lacking that doesn't make you wish carrying it around all the time! How many of you have your PSP stationed at home? (a few meters away from your PS3 or Xbox 360).

(first PSP firmware came without a web browser! How naive can Sony be? Why wifi then?)

This is getting a bit off topic I guess. We started talking about a PS3 hack for 2010!
