Here's an idea: instead of this thread being "PS3 finally hacked," it should be changed to "non-dev PS3s finally able to play backups aka pirated games." Since, you know, it HASN'T been hacked and all that.

It did look liek you wree trying to start flaming, as Oner said some sentences can be taken by some in the completely opposite way, adding a LOL at teh end doesnt really help.
Anyway about this psjailbreak, funny how its gone all quiet on the net regarding it. Maybe because we have to wait a week or 2 before they start selling them, i guess.
Also people saying even though it looks like a normal memory stick, the chip is a controller not a memory chip, so cfw might not be possible yet.
Also with rumours of chinese companies already trying to sell clones, we can expect the hefty $120 price tag to drop drastically to a more reasonable $30-40.
Cant wait for homebrew on the PS3, maybe finally I can play my anime mkv files without having to use a pc to stream them over! Soon the PS3's real potential will show itself, i hope.

Rumours say also that it might be fake after all.
My opinion is that with a 60mill(if not more)game coming in 2 months (GT5) if the jailbreak is true sony will respond.
If they respond with a statement or a firmware, only time can tell.

ps3 hacked? whatever. let me know when it's a sure fire done deal that doesn't cost me a benjamin and a half. then I will take my ps3 back out of the closet and dust it off.

WEll the psjailbreak server has been updated to cope with the traffic, and so if you go and look at the official distributors, idk since i dont like in australia, but why would Oz mods and discoazul sully their rep by tring to sell a fake?
Though that said I dont know why shoppsjailbreak.com is on the list, to me that definitely looks like a phishing site, and how can they already have so called comments from customers :P
But so far everything out there leads me to believe this is real, so I'll wait for either the price to drop or a cfw to be released.

what i want to know is if it will alter any file on the ps3. for example will it still recognise as a hacked ps3 when you pull off the usb.
but even if it is $140, i think it is still worth it even if the next firmware disable it.because for $140 you can play all the game released so far.
just hope the firmware update will not permanently kill the ps3.

lol just realised something.
On other forums there was a guy saying that he doesnt like the term jailbreak, and was dreading others will start using this term for other hacks and stuff.
But now I think I know why they are calling this a jailbreak, cos its not hack it just loads the debug settings. Cos in the US jailbreaking as they call it is not illegal. And we know the people who come up with these laws are as technical minded as a rabbit, so I guess they are hoping that these people think that if its legal to jailbreak a phone, why not a console. So basically getting them confused with the technical jargon :P
Anyway, is anyone else really impatient atm?

Yep im patient about things like this and also excited and i want to see a real working one first before i considered buying one of these.
It would be good to have backups of my purchased games as they never last long with the kids about!
If this is just a USB flash drive with the files on etc then wouldn't it be pretty easy to simply copy the files from one flash drive to another?
Im in 2 minds whether this being really fake or not as the price for the USB device is quite high compaired to other console mods out there on the market.
Its also come onto the market pretty fast without any news on the progress of this modification.

ppl saying this isnt just a normal usb memory stick. The chip is some kind of controller, so no we wont be able to just copy the files onto our own memory sticks.
We will either have to buy this dongle, or wait to see if someone can make a custom firmware version. As for price, like i've said wait for the clones to come onto the market, the prices will drop like mad!
Cheapest I have seen is 90 euro from one of the official distributors, so even before they are being sold the price has dropped by almost 40 euros! So I am guessing the clones will be around 60 euros at first and then eventually falling to 30 euros as the different companies start competing
Now i'd be willing to pay 30 euros for this thing even if its a clone, as long as it works. The $140 price tag is obviously over the top supply and demand type thinking, the demand is high, but the chinese companies will be more than happy to supply at a lower cost.

Hmmm...I bet they could mod the loader so that it was detected as something legit...so Sony just thinks you are playing some old forgotten game like Worms.

I like the idea but then Sony would see a big surge of everyone playing the same old game at once.
I think a generator would be good that would generate these game id's so everyone didn't have the exact same one then it wouldn't be so suspicious?

That would probably work...and that way, I don't have to remove Worms to use it! Of course, most people will choose some game that they will never play...so sony would suddenly see 50,000 people playing a game that they only sold 20,000 copies of.

That's what mine is doing prety much, bought God Of War 3 and that's all, won't play anything else till it's modded. Maybe some BR movies but that's it.
