To all who don't already know what a teensy is...this hack isn't ready for you yet...but by the time you receive it in the mail, there should be step-by-step instructions that my mom could follow. Also, there are two versions of the teensy being sold..the "2.0" and the "2.0++". Either should work, so drop the extra $6 for the ++ just in case the next update needs more power than the regular one has. If you want more info, go here: http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/

Well actually, the PS3 has been hacked, because there are certain few that were given the USB Dongles to test, so they can play backups off their HDD's no problem.
And with what's going on over at psx-scene, they are trying to port this to the PSP, so you wouldn't have to use teensy. And also, I guess they are now trying to port it to Android Devices as well.
I guess we'll see how all those turn out in the next few weeks!

No. What I'm saying is that I don't play my PS3 that often. Mostly 360, secondly Wii, thirdly PS3 (actually for exclusives only). I like the Sony machine better but I like Live over PSN which is why my online time goes to the 360. So once the Sony can be modded, there is a reason to spend more time with it.

Yes & No. When this mod is available and used freely to everyone (easily) then the information will be changed. Because as of right now it is out in the open but only a small handful of people have the hardware to test/use it.
Plus if you really want to be technical ~ the PS3 is still not "hacked", as it is still a secure system in that it took a device that Sony makes (dongle) that was reverse engineered to be used in this manner. It is only rumored that the original PSJailbreak does not use official Sony coding but that is still yet t be proven/dis-proven. But that is just playing semantics honestly ;P

any chance we are getting CFW from this so it would only be a hack? then just keep updating the CFW?

Too early to tell. We have to wait and see when the first FW upgrade releases and how the scene handles it...for all we know only 3.41 might be the only "usable" option right now. It's a wait and see game right now.

Let's see how long it takes untill PSNlover is released for the PS3 too.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

There is actually a modified version of the backup manager that identifies itself as COD4MW2...so, at least for now, it would seem Sony can't tell that you are using it.

Better to check the veracity of every report before getting the public all riled up.
Apologies, I was bummed when I heard of the bans but now I'm relieved to know that it was a hoax

It's a hoax atm, but we all know eventually sony will find a way to detect it and block any consoles running it.

Althought the thing about the bans were fake, it's still to early in the game to go about risking it because sony already stated that they are able to identify the jailbroken units. We're not sure if its because of the manager ID (the reason why the stealth manager changed it's ID to mimic call of duty) or by some other means. Only time will tell, I don't care about online so...Meh. I hacked my unit today using my G1 (the android godfather still lives lol) and I was surprize to see that after I installed the backup manager and restarted my system to its normal state that it was still there in the games section. Didn't know that would happen, I was under the assumption that I had to do the jailbreak thing everytime I turned the ps3 on, so now I think it freaking cool lol (Althought I haven't tested it as yet to verify if its working correctly) makes me wonder why buy a dongle when its not really needed to whole time.

Yup someone over at psx-scene has tried updating to 3.42, and trying the jailbreak solution he was using, and it no longer works!
I think Sony is really staying on top of the ball with the PS3. I mean you see the other systems getting hacked, and the PSP; man that's like a cat and mouse deal there. A new firmware seems like every week, just because people find ways past it!
The guys that were shipping from Australia are trying to fight back against Sony's Lawsuit, and now I guess there's a Lawsuit in the US about some supplier that was going to be selling them.
