I'm not asking you to make me understand the in's and out's of DOP-IOS, I understand that I'm an inferior life form to you and I'll never understand it but I would like an answer to my question about the safety of doing the two serials I posted above so if anyone else except our lord and saviour knows can they please share?
I'd really like to know this before I begin.
Your guide is very simple and very step by step so anyone who has a question will most likely have a "Stupid" question....If that frustrates you so much then close the thread.

Nice. Enjoyed the bow in my presence quip.
If I were you I'd have given me instructions on how to brick my Wii, so fair play to you.....;-)
You forgot to bow in my presence.

Do you really need me to confirm for you that leh183 and leh153 are below leh250?

As to closing the thread. If my replies to your questions bother you so much then why not find another guide. I am sure most that use this guide would rather see your sorry a$$ go rather then the guide.

UPDATE: I updated the guide and took out the Serial# crap on DOP-IOS. Just install the latest revisions of IOS on all systems. Don't downgrade any IOS or Firmware. Have to make it simple for those that can't get a grasp on the different serial# systems.

You can install Bootmii before or after the softmod. It isn't going to make a difference (I just recommend doing it prior to softmodding incase you brick).

Make sure you have the Bootmii folder on your SD Card (with 3 files inside that).

If you don't then run the HBC/Bootmii installer again and choose Prepare SD card and do not delete the folder.

If you have the folder on the SD card then you may have an uncomaptibilr SD card and will need to use another.

Yeah, the folder is on the card and it does contain 3 files. Any other suggestions I'd hate to not have a backup. By the way the rest of the install went smoothly except this part.

Install the wad files the same way you installed the neogamma WAD file. Place the WAD in the wad folder and run WAD manager.

If they are starting to load the game, then the softmod looks to have worked, you may need to use better quality dvd-r media. Verbatim is always the best and bunt on the slowest speed possible.

For those of us (most of us, if not everyone on 4.2) who can only install Bootmii as IOS we will never be able to recover in the event of a brick as we wont be able to boot into the HBC.
This is only possible if Bootmii was installed as Boot2.

Should this not be stated clearly in the Guide ???

Installing Bootmii and backing up the NAND is most important. If anyone wants any other information on how to restore there NAND can do some research on their own and find out.

The guide worked just as described with no problems.

-brand new LU66 updated to 4.2u
-SanDisk SD card (2 GB)

Some notes for your information:

*BootMii would only install as IOS

*For the DOP-IOS MOD section, there is no need for the line "After it has finished press any button to continue." as after it finishes, it goes right back to the screen to select the next IOS

*cMIOS Installer seemed to work fine (remember I have LU66) but I haven't tested any GameCube games yet

Hope the above is useful. Thanks again for the great guide - it was very easy to follow.

Hello, I'm trying to setup a wii for my children, I installed the softmod carefully as laid out in this forum, and everything seemed fine, no error messages, and in the wii menu it lists the homebrew and neogamma. But when I load a backup disk, I get the error message "DVD Read Error 1101". I have tried several dvds, some that work on a chip modded wii and a couple I burned using imgburn. I'm a newbie at this type of thing so I know I probably missed something, so any help would be greatly appreciated. My system is NTSC USA, will this mod allow PAL disks to be played as well. Thank you for your time and help

You might have a new Wii model that prevents back up disk loading or have the same issue as me. A weird DVD burner. Tr using the USB HDD bootloader instead. Its compact, faster and alot easier to carry multiple games on.

I got a newbie question, I searched but I couldn't find a definitive answer so I guess this is the best place to ask.

I followed all the steps and my WII works perfect but I disconnected the wiiconnect24 as I'm afraid it might update my wii without my consent. My kids now want to play a game that needs wiiconnect, is it safe to turn it on at least temporarily just so they can play their game online?

As stated in the guide if you get read error it is possible you have 1 of the newer drives that will not play backup disc. You will need to use a USB Loader instead.

It is safe to have WiiConnect24 on.

The guide says under things you need...

WII SYSTEM WITH 4.2 FIRMWARE: Update to 4.2 firmware if you are on 4.1 or below (including already softmodded systems0.
