I've been more of a lurker as of late, as there really isn't much to do in the dvd forums. Most of the answers have boiled down to basically make sure your programs are up to date, and if they are, wait till a new version comes out.

It does seem very quiet lately, i've been busy doing other things too, so i'm more of a lurker at the moment; it just feels like it's one of those forum 'waves', where we're waiting for the next new group of regulars or something. It's good to see a few familiar, regular faces though (like most in this thread), good to see you guys.

I had a look at this thread cause i was bored. All the older members still seem to be here and there are newbies but there doesn't seem to be as many posts as normal.i joined back in 2005 and this site was very busy back then.occasionally its busy but alot of the time its newbie after newbie asking the same question over and over.Kinda gets annoying answering the same question over and over.I've been on other forums and some of them have died completely they have members but no activity for 6months or longer.glad this forum is still running.

Yep, just like I said previously -- pretty much everything related to X360 modding, DVD Shrink, etc has been asked, answered and solved already. There isn't one single huge thing currently that would spark discussion. It seems to me that "purchasing a new PC, what parts to choose" and Win7 problems are getting more traction that the old skool topics, like DVD ripping, video encoding, console modding, etc. Obviously, forum rooms will change in future to reflect the trends, as they've always done.

Thats me too Ray. I am not sure how many more times someone can ask why Shrink does not work with Win 7 , when Creaky has a dedicated thread telling that it does. lol

I believe both of y'all mean they have to SEARCH for it first before they can read it. That search function has helped me greatly my years here.

Eric was right all along.. we are dinosaurs and should die out soon.
heres a fine example of a totally numb bastard.. morons like this should be taken out and horse whipped until they get some intelligence, or die, removing their terminal stupidity from the gene pool.

hi :)

Quote: Bronze Age Britain c. 2500 - 600 B.C.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beaker People. About 2500 B.C. an influx of migrants settled in Britain. These newcomers have been called the Beaker People because of the shape of the pottery vessels which are so often found in their round barrow graves. The stocky newcomers, although few at first, seem to have quickly gotten the upper hand on their Neolithic landlords, becoming a sort of nouveau aristocracy.
The Beaker folk were farmers and archers, wearing stone wrist guards to protect their arms from the sting of the bowstring. They were also the first metalsmiths in Britain, working first in copper and gold, and later in the bronze which has given its name to this era.

Wow, some things really change.... and some things don't. Been part of AD since '04(lurked for a bit prior) and have seen lots of things.
dRD is right though... this lull is just another calm before the next storm. Only technology will make the next storm roll in.
For me personally, I went from active poster to lurker for several reasons. There was a bit of bickering amongst several social circles that were seriously ruining (for me at least) the atmosphere which at the time was fun and light. At the early stages of my membership the upper ranks were hand selected and when that ended, the literal spamming of the forums began with everyone in a race to addict. The most common was "read my guide" and in most cases the guide had nothing to do with the issue of the original poster. I tired of fighting to get to the root of the issue when everyone had an "end all, cure all" guide that they fought about whose guide was best for the situation. Everyone wanted to be "King of the Hill" and got so wrapped in personal drama that they forgot what this place was for.... sharing information and helping other people. I think the true killer for me was the "Wolves" threads that got put in the safety valve. To allow a place for people to openly insult and bash another member, whether that person was deserving of a tongue lashing or not, was intolerable to me. Tongue lashings should be done by mods behind the scenes, not every member of the forum out in the open. I complained about it via pm to admin and nothing was said or done so I decided I was done.
I still check in once in while to stay in touch with some of the interesting people I've gotten the pleasure of knowing, but I won't foray out into the rest of the hostile environment called Afterdawn Forums.
And this new version of AD... ewwwww.... me no likey.... :-)
I do like alot of the features of it, but the appearance is just not my cup of tea. Guess it matters not, since I'm just a lurker.

Once upon a time I might have cared. Nowadays I just sigh at the idiocy of it all and move on. The wonderful thing about life is there's always a choice. My choice is to ignore the stupid [censored].
