Hi,
I am starting this thread because i was refused help before. So, yes, I have followed the guide at portforward.com for azureus and I am getting very low speeds, like 300b/s. My NAT/Firewall test is ok. I wonder What's wrong. I have been using bitcomet before and i was getting full speed even without portforwarding. :o
Please help me. Thanx.

To carry on, some program's will work where other's do not and that's just the way it is on certain machine's. Vuze seem's that way for you although it does seem to take a little longer to connect than utorrent, pretty neglible difference though. Let it run for awhile and see. If the port show's open, that's pretty much all you need, far as I know. You can disable UPnP at option's>tool's>UPnP if it isn't, same in utorrent at option's>preference's>connection. How is utorrent for you, I see that's an older version you're using, ensure randomize is disabled at option's>preference's>connection.

uTorrent is like 9kb/s after about 30mins. Yea i am using 1.6 because i was following utorrent guide on this forum. But anyways i don't see any difference between 1.8 and 1.6.

I guess you are right. Because i tried utorrent, vuze, bitlord, bittornado, bittorrent and bitcomet. Only bitcomet seems to work for me. O_o

That's great, now you need to use some kind of ip blocker, when downloading/uploading, if you're not. PeerGuardian has one that will work on Vista, none are 100% but better than nothing: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ It's still classed as an RC but has been out for age's, PG when open will block some website's too so that's normal.

Basically, the movie industry (MPAA) has companies trolling for ip addresses of people who are downloading copyrighted material, when you're uploading it, you're distributing copyrighted material. Those addresses found are then reported. Same with audio (RIAA), PeerGuardian will block these companies from seeing you but, remember, it's not 100% but I think it's pretty good at what it does. Also try and register at private site's, they're safer and user's there have to upload to maintain their ratio. Another thing to watch for on public site's are video's that have never completed past 85 - 95%, those are seeded just to harvest ip's and waste bandwidth. If you're in a country that doesn't recognize copyright, I'd still use because if your ISP get's bugged enough, they could cancel you. I'm in Canada where US copyright isn't recognized but I still got a letter from my ISP about being caught by a US company. That was year's ago and none since using PG or it's equivalent. There are other's but not familiar with them except Bluetack's for Vuze which is equal to PG.

ok i am using PG2 now. Hey, there is something i forgot to mention, I only get good speeds in bitcomet if I disable my firewall on my router. And in uTorrent my speeds have improved but it's like 42kb/s where in bitcomet its 60kb/s. I was wondering if I should use my hardware firewall or windows firewall. Because if I disable windows firewall and enable my router's firewall, I get ridiculous speeds. This is confusing. I am using windows firewall because I don't want 3rd party firewalls. So, anything you recommend? And, also, I have many friends who use uTorrent and get amazing speeds. They also use same ISP and same router.
P.S Do you know how i can get an account on a private site, torrentleech or demonoid for instance?
Thanx

And according to you, what is the best Bittorrent client and why?

The best client for me is the one that work's and being light helped. I used Bittornado first for a year or so but started having some really strange issue's (connection issues) with it so went to utorrent. It worked great for a couple of year's and then it too started some really strange behavior (not connection) Now I'm using Vuze (not so light) and it's built in ip blocker. I like it because it's ip blocker doesn't block website's and is exactly the same as PG. I haven't used it but one that look's interesting is Deluge. It's light and configurable and I believe both utorrent and Vuze incorporated one of its feature's, something to do with ISP throttling, I think.

I just saw your other post. No authority on firewall's as I only use Window's and my router's. Just make sure your client or port is an exception in Window's firewall. I think I've heard Commodo is good. To register as account just keep checking those site's daily, they clear out account's regularly and accept new one's. Just a matter of being there when they do. Also, Demonoid used to have day's people could sign up, maybe they still do and someone know's. I've never used BitComet so I can't explain speed difference's, some setting maybe.

Yes, alway's have. Window's firewall is only outbound, I think so not all that effective by itself. Just make an exception in it. As far as your router firewall, forwarding a port is making an exception in it. I can't explain full speed's before your router was forwarded but that was something I began seeing Bittornado start although the green light went yellow then red and black.

hey,
Ive just found an issue. I was telling a friend of mine about my p2p problems and he told me he never encountered problems like that. He was always downloading things and playing games online where he hosted servers. So to test, i borrowed a copy of counter strike 1.6. I installed it and created a server. And, to my great surprise, he couldnt connect to me. I tried Portforwarding and i also tried disabling all firewalls. He was never able to connect.
Now that is a coincidence. p2p not working, counter strike cannot be connected to. wow.
Why do you think this is happening?
Thanx.

I suspect the ISP for any problem's but also take it as a quirk of certain computer's, hardware, etc when thing's don't work. Like I said, Bittornado and utorrent both quit working with problem's I never heard of after being fine for year's, my email is very inconsistent and I rarely use it, no matter the program. MSN say's it's my ISP, my ISP said it's MSN and on two computer's with the same connection also (sure that is my ISP). Bottom line, I may never know, just the way some thing's go as far as I'm concerned.

You can try upping total connected peer's and also Global connection's in utorrent at option's>preference's>bittorrent but too high and it may affect your web surfing. May help connection's and overall speed.

Someone else will have chime in, never heard of ppp0 and only be guessing. I'd guess source and destination ip and port is the ip address you set static and the port is the one you're using in utorrent. Protocol and NAT may be TCP and allow, to may be the port in utorrent. Like I said, never used a firewall and as far as I'm concerned, don't even think they're necessary with a router. What firewall is that?

hmmm. I have orange ADSL. I use sagem 3202 Livebox router and its the firewall in it. What a complex firewall. Now I know why I cannot use utorrent and all others. I have searched all over the internet on how to configure that and ive found nothing.
Do you think I should Buy another Router/modem, will it fix the problem?

Thought you had done port forwarding and set a static ip. Either something is wrong there or your ISP is throttling but didn't you say you were getting full speed's? Here's the guide again to look over: http://www.portforward.com/english/route...02/Utorrent.htm doesn't even look like the page you show, port to and from is the port in utorrent, local ip is your static address. Probably asked this before but does utorrent never show green or ok at the port check? Is that modem/router from your ISP, they should replace it if you want but I can't say it's broken, doubt you could access the web if it was? Sagem support or even your ISP can help you set it up, just say it's for a game rather than torrent's. For example, my ISP gave me a customized D-Link modem/router and D-Link helped me with it, can't remember what, flashing it, I think.

Ok let me explain. I only get full speeds in bitcomet when ports are not forwarded and router firewall is off. But I want the firewall to be on for security. Thus, when I turn it on and forward the ports, I don't get the same speeds. Sometimes it is just 0kb/s. I usually forward ports in this page:(I erased ports for privacy)
But it just doesnt work. Then I found a way to configure the firewall directly(from the snapshots in olde posts) . I think the picture above just configures NAT but not the firewall.
