Dear Anyone.

I have Windows XP SP3, a 3.4 (roughly!) ghz processor, 2 gigs RAM and a big hard drive, half empty. I'm not trying to play a downloaded DivX file, I know VLC does that perfectly happily. I'm trying to stream online DivX movies.

If I just try and play them online, I'm told I dont' have the right version of the player installed I download the software - which I've done many times - and it tells me I've got all the up to date parts in place and doesn't install anything. I restart the machine and the site still won't stream anything!

Here's an example of a site I'm trying to stream, one of many sites/URL's I've tried to stream from. I've tried opening the URL with VLC, no joy, nothing happens I've tried opening it by going to Advanced Open in VLC and inputting the URL. It just blinks for a fraction of a second as though it's briefly starting to do something, then stops with nothing actually happening.

One URL which doesn't work for me is here:

http://www.letmewatchthis.com/external.p....com&loggedin=0

If anyone can make this stream in Firefox or Internet Explorer, can you please tell me how you did it and what I need to do?

Yours hopefully

Looks like they're doing some kind of bait and switch using the DivX name...

They made a fake DivX Web Player using Flash (if you right click on the player, you see Flash controls), and when you click install "DivX 2.1", it starts a download of some Xvid binary, which is NOT the DivX Plus Web Player.

I'd avoid this site, as these appear to be disingenuous antics, that might even lead to spyware or worse. I didn't want to risk installing any of the stuff.

Always get the official DivX software from DivX.com.

Thank you very much, Porfitron. I'm so ignorant I didn't even know DivX WASN'T anything to do with Flash!! I've uninstalled their stuff - I wonder what it was supposed to do? It didn't seem to do anything.

Yours respectfully
