Are there any mods or alterations for PS2 commercial games?

Since I'm now running my PS2 games from hard drive, that means that potentially they can be altered, since they are stored and loaded from an alterable data file rather than a (fixed content) CD or DVD. So this leads me to wonder if there are any modifications that can be made to any commercial PS2 games, such as a way to turn off the auto-aim in Unreal Tournament, or maybe to fix known bugs in games, or whatever.

I know some games have mods etc like Grand Theft Auto, or some people use Codebreaker to add codes that will modify a game or character.

You may have to search google yourself on that.
