Backup PS2 games to install to HDD using HD Loader?

Is it possible to install backed up PS2 games to the hard drive without using the original the disc? I don't have a usb enclosure and my mobo does not have any IDE connections. I tried to install one of my backed up discs and it always said invalid PS2 disc or something.

You can try the method posted in this thread if you have Original HDAdvance or Swap Magic
