I mean does it easily break or gave in when its been used too much or dropped? someone sold me his network adaptor for 10 bucks...

SCPH-10350 made in japan...

We didnt test it because he's rushing and i dont have time to ask him to invite him to our house to try his network adaptor... i made a gamble!

And its cheap! he said he is 100% sure that it doesnt have any defects!

Now i want to know if network adaptors easily break or gave in or had any defects when its been used too much for arcade ps2's! are they durable? his network adaptor only has 1 slot (network only) so i think it doesnt have a modem!

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll be honest. I doubt anyone will reply to this thread because there is no one in the right mind who would go out and drop test their network adapter for no real reason.

Just go and test it rather than post up this thread. It was only $10 which is a very cheap price compare to ebay which goes for $40+.

Even if it doesn't work I'm sure you can just resell it for $25 on ebay.

They are very tough...no moving parts and a strong plastic shell. My current network adapter has outlasted several PS2 systems without any trouble...and one of the PS2 systems died from a power spike from a lighting strike. I have also had a few hard drives go bad while attached to it, one of which overheated so bad that it damaged the dvd drive above it. The only weak points are the connections...they can wear out and break off just like any other CAT5 plug.

I see thanks for the rply! so you mean the connectors? so they break that easily when you always remove your network adaptor from you hard disc? I'm always removing my N.A from my HDD because i always install games into my hdd and then put my hdd on my pc!

For the network adapter pins: These tend to wear out, and have been known to break off in extreme old age. They also get dirty, but are easily cleaned.

For the HDD connections: these tend to wear out, they are just copies of the PC IDE interface, and are not designed for constant swapping.

For the NIC-to-PS2 connector: This seems to be the most robust connector type on the network adapter, but can still be damaged if you are not carefull.
