Load games and game saves to HD on modded PS2

Hello. I have spent over 20 hours total trying to figure out how to do this and I am at my wits end. I'm not a computer noob but this stuff is freaking confusing. I'm hoping someone here can get me started. Here is my setup.

Non-slim PS2 that was modded in 2005
Network adapter
80GB Maxtor HD

So far I have only been able to load games with a boot DVD with HDLoader 0.8a grey. Is it possible to make a boot DVD that will allow me to load and play my games from the HD as well as store my game saves from my MCs?
